Maker's bio

Hi there, I’m Sandy a 28-year-old blacksmith. I create functional metal items at my forge in Newbridge, Scotland. I began this journey to learn blacksmithing in 2019 after working in a corporate environment and seeking something more fulfilling. I love the challenges of working with metal and the things you can create. I have offered these courses in the past year to share my enjoyment of blacksmithing with others. I look forward to having you in the forge soon!

Ashley reviewed: Blacksmithing Experience

"I got in touch with Athelstane Forge with the idea of arranging something for my wife and I's sixth (iron!) wedding anniversary - Sophie and Sandy took this vague idea and turned it into a wonderful day at the forge, creating a very special and uniquely designed piece! From the first contact onwards, Sophie was so kind and helpful, and Sandy was brilliant in sharing his skills and teaching us the basics of blacksmithing during our day at the forge. A wonderful experience all round - thank you!"

Murray Robb reviewed: Blacksmithing Experience

"I had a very enjoyable four hour class with Sandy, learning various different techniques to make bottle opener and fire poker. Sandy was really good at explaining what was required at each stage. A great experience."

AthelstaneForge responded:

"Pleasure having you Murray! Hopefully see you again soon in the forge. Sandy"
