Kirsten reviewed: Monoprinting For a Day Plus Lunch

"In addition to being a patient, organized, and flexible instructor, Genny was so fun to spend time with! I did a 5 hour monoprint session and after some explanations and demonstrations, Genny let me loose to dabble and experiment. She stayed close by offering tips and pointers, and then expanding her demonstrations. I felt like the course was really customized to my skill and interest level which I appreciated. We took a nice break for homemade quiche, salad, and salmon toast and wrapped up the day with tea and apple cake. Genny bundled up my (10!) prints for me and offered some suggestions for ways I could continue modifying my prints at home. I learned a lot and had a super time. I can’t wait to find a print shop at home so I can continue exploring monoprints. "

"I enjoyed the session with Genny so much. A very supportive teacher, she clearly puts a lot of thought into a relaxed creative atmosphere. She taught us about the rich history of Chinese brush painting, without making it intimidating - it was the perfect introduction to help beginners to paint. The tea ceremony was lovely and I came away refreshed and inspired. Also, I have a disability and really appreciated how Genny sensitively took that into account, to make the session accessible for me. "

"Our session with Genny was lovely. Chinese brush painting is a very calming, joyous and meditative style of painting, and Genny created an atmosphere that radiated that calm. As two beginners, we learned a little of the history, the tools, the method and the symbolism of what we were painting and created some beautiful pieces. Thank you Genny for your time and your professionalism."

"I did a Tetra workshop with Genny recently, it was incredibly fun to learn and do something a little different. The printing was very cool. Being able to reuse materials makes it even more special. Genny is a very good teacher, she has lots of patience and is willing to provide as much or a little help as needed. I couldn’t recommend the workshop enough! "

"As a novice to printmaking I was intrigued to learn how to recycle an everyday item for printmaking. Genny provided a really welcoming, well organised and enjoyable introduction to tetra pack intaglio printing. It was a great way to try something new without feeling any pressure or judgement. "Genny is a friendly and very experienced teacher. She is patient and explains things very clearly. The Tetrapak method of printing is easy to master and you can get some lovely results. Genny's homemade cakes are delicious too! I have no hesitation in recommending this course. You will definitely have some fun! "
