"What a lovely way to spend a weekend! Logie Steading is such a tranquil location and this back to nature course using greenwood reflected the atmosphere. Easy going and calm instruction by Aaron who has such a passion for working with wood. I am a complete novice at furniture making and felt a great sense of achievement with my finished product. Real nice chatty company with laughs over tea and biscuits, the soup was out of this world! One final afterthought ….this was the first time in years I haven't seen people stuck to their mobile phones ! An occasional photo or video and that was it. Great. Ladies and Gents you can escape social media for a few hours!!"

"Had a fantastic week at the ‘West Coast Chair’ course. A great group of people and Aaron’s teaching methods and style are perfect, all stages of the build well explained and demonstrated, then allowing you to carry out each stage adding your own style and ideas for the build of your chair. This is all at a nice relaxed pace in his tranquil outdoor workshop, with plenty of cups of tea and biscuits on offer!! Walking away out the woods with a fantastic chair at the end of the week is just awesome!!"

"I had a wonderful two days making a "Highland Stool" in the woods. The course is well structured and covers all the basic information and skills needed to start working with green wood on your own if you want to - but importantly, you go home with a cracking stool too! Adrian delivers the content in a relaxed manner which makes the whole experience easy. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to know about working with green wood or anyone who just wants to spend a relaxing few days in the woods. Very therapeutic........."

"Definitely one of the most relaxing and informative course I have been on. Set in the woodlandss near Logie Steading, this is the perfect location to appreciate the qualities of working with green wood. At the end of the course everyone left smiling and proudly clutching their new creations. Aaron's relaxed and evolving style makes this course suitable for anyone, whether experienced in woodwork or an avsolute beginner"

"I was very lucky to receive a green woodworking course gift voucher to make a Highland Stool with Aaron Sterritt. Aaron is a very skilled young man who has set up this business where folk like me can come and have an enlightening experience, with very good tuition and the benefit of taking home something special that you have made yourself. The actual location within a wooded area in the Logie estate is enough to relax you and help you recognise the link between the environment and the challenge that awaits you. This is very far from making something already half prepared for you. You pick out your green wood which you chop into sizeable pieces that will form the legs of your stool. Each person has a shave horse on which you use the appropriate tools to shave down the legs till smooth and revealing all the glorious colours and natural contours of the wood. The legs are dried out overnight in the kiln ready to be attached to the seat, using different coloured wedges to secure the joint as well as making an attractive finish. There is a lot of shaving, sanding, drinking tea/coffee, chatting to and learning from the others on the course and of course Aaron. I would seriously recommend anyone with an affinity with wood or even to outdoors to consider doing one of Aaron’s courses. He even sends you the plans to make your own shave horse should you wish to do some green woodworking at home. Lorna Field (Course 8th & 9th June)"

"I can’t recommend this course highly enough. From start to finish it is well run and Aaron is calm and patient and demonstrates his enthusiasm for all things wood in his work and in his words. Working with green wood is one of the most satisfying things I have done. It’s relaxing almost meditative work and to end the course with a beautiful table is more than I could have hoped for. I think Aaron’s courses should be considered as an essential antidote to all the negativity pervading life today. I have enrolled on another already."

The workshop is run in a superb woodland setting as well as indoor workshops for some of the technical aspects. It was a sociable and productive course and a very good introduction to green wood working."

"After doing the 2 day 'Highland Stool Course' last year and learning some new skills it was great to produce a really useful 'one-off' piece of furniture that gets used daily, so time to step up a level and decided to go for the 5 day West Coast Chair course, (another Xmas pressie from my wife). Another great week of weather predicted, and it did not fail, nothing better than to work outside in a beautiful location and in great company. I think everyone has a few doubts as to whether they can produce a beautiful piece of practical furniture that has come from such simple materials and new found skills, Aaron's teaching methods are clear, simple, and not hurried, he is always on hand to guide you through each stage, he encourages you to be expressive in your creation and you soon realise that any self doubt is soon left behind. At the end the week you have a lovingly crafted, one-off practical piece of furniture that you are proud of and it looks great. Many thanks Aaron for another great course, passing on of skills and methods and patience.... Regards Trevor. The only dilemma now is which course next....."

"What a great way to spend a weekend. Excellent and well delivered instruction, natural rural location, good company and a very therapeutic activity. What's more you get to leave with not only a new skill but also something you have made yourself and will likely be "Chuffed to bits" with."

"After thoroughly enjoying the one day “Half Log” stool course and two-day Highland Stool courses, I decided to go for the 5-day West Coast Chair course. It was a small group of five – everyone was really friendly. Aaron is a natural teacher – he knows when you need a bit of help and very patient. Aaron would demonstrate each stage prior to you having a go yourself. If something did not go quite to plan, he would find a way to fix it. I thoroughly enjoyed working in the outdoor workshop – fresh air, working the wood by hand and great company! It was a relaxing and rewarding way to spend five days off work! By the end, I made a beautifully crafted chair, which I am very proud of! Built to last! It is certainly a talking piece! Thank you!"

I really enjoyed the two days working out in the woods with a friendly group of like-minded individuals. Aaron is a great tutor! I learned a range of techniques over the weekend! I am very proud of my stool! A terrific way to spend a weekend! Thank you!"

"I really enjoyed doing one of Aaron's green woodworking courses last weekend, building a stool. I found it to be a charmingly refreshing change to woodwork as I knew it - rather than striving for factory machine accuracy and working drawing precision, I was guided through working dynamically with the material, exploring its strengths and using the wood's unique features to my structural and aesthetic advantage. I discovered more about the material character, by seeing it transform at every stage. Starting from a chunk of felled willow tree and turning it into a unique craft, I could feel the ownership and pride of what I was doing really come through. Book a course now- you will not regret it! Thanks for a great weekend."

"Quite possibly the most fun you can have with some wood ! Even better, you come away enthused, more knowledgeable, made new like minded friends and to cap all that, a new piece of furniture with a personal story behind it. Just a great couple of days - honestly just book it. Thanks Aaron really enjoyed myself."

Aaron Sterritt Woodwork responded:

"Thanks Keith. So glad you had such a good time. All the best. Aaron"

"I did the first chair making course Aaron put on. It was a really great few days. The location is lovely, set in the beech woods and working in a small group is really nice as the students all encouraged each other. Aaron has great teaching style, very laid back, calm and patient. It was so relaxing and satisfying and I learnt so much. I never felt hurried or stressed. All five students made a very professional chair to take home, this speaks volumes In itself. My chair is the best thing I have ever made from wood, and I love it."
