Alison Bullock reviewed: Pottery / ceramics / wheel throwing full day

"Attended a one day Workshop today with Lorraine who was a thorough and knowledgable teacher. I absolutely loved every minute and learnt so much in such a short space of time. We were greeted in the morning with hot drinks and then straight on to learning some of the techniques, then straight into getting hands on! Lorraine answered our questions and found time for everyone on the course. Throwing on the wheel was great fun and Lorraine made it look easy which was inspiring. Mistakes were easily rectified and there was no pressure to rush. A brilliant experience and I would love to take another course with her. Thank you very much, see you soon!"

Sally Griffin reviewed: Creative Spring /Christmas Gift Wrapping Workshop with Lunch

"Jo who provides this course is just the most lovely, patient tutor and obviously totally comfortable and skilled in the gift-wrapping arena. She was a wonderful hostess which added to the ambience of the occasion, enabling all those attending to be relaxed and simply enjoy the experience. My friend and I returned home with three beautifully gift-wrapped items, which would not have looked at all aesthetically pleasing, without Jo's guidance. In just a few hours we learnt new skills that will benefit us for years to come! I would totally recommend this course to anyone."

Antony Lynall reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"I found Marks details on-line late in 2015 and my wife bought me a day's one-on-one lesson with Mark which I took in January. Communication was excellent prior to the day with good directions, pre-course notes & an interest in my current skill level & what I wanted to get from the day. A very warm welcome & a fantastic day! I came away buzzing with my new found skills & techniques. Considering all the equipment at your disposal, the materials provided and the skill of the teacher, this was incredible value for money. Mark has a undoubted skill for wood turning but importantly, his ability to teach is also excellent. I learnt so much in the day and will be back for more once I have practiced at home. I was not expecting to come away with such detailed & comprehensive teaching notes which was an added bonus. On top of all this, Mark is a really nice guy who was a pleasure to spend the day with."

Caitlin reviewed: Beginners Hand spinning - 'From fleece to fibre’ - at All in a Spin

"Had a really lovely workshop day with Dunja last weekend. She was very knowledgeable and an excellent teacher, and she was very willing to alter the workshop a little so that I could bring my drop spindle! In the afternoon, I did have a go on a spinning wheel and here too her instruction was extremely useful. At the end of the day, I felt I had a good grasp of the principles of spinning, and that I could keep working away by myself without further handholding (though the chances are I'll be back for the intermediate session at some point)."

Leonie reviewed: Pottery throwing course in the South Downs National Park (one day - one-to-one)

"A wonderful and informative course! Rowena is an excellent, experienced and friendly teacher, and the setting in Lewes is lovely. I'd never done any pottery before but I managed to make bowls, mugs and even a gargoyle on my first day! Great value for money. Highly recommended."

Denise Liebermann reviewed: Realistic and Adorable Needle Felt Animals & Pets

"I attended Sophie's workshop as a complete novice, not even knowing what needle felting was - I left with a new passion and everything I needed to move on to my next project, including the confidence to simply have a go and see what evolves. Sophie is patience itself, and has a real gift for sharing her knowledge in a clear and fun way. Everything about the day was really well thought out and included THE most fantastic lunch cooked by Sophie's lovely mother, the whole day was thoroughly enjoyable. I couldn't recommend this workshop highly enough, thank you Sophie, and mum! x"

Tara reviewed: Soy Wax Candle Making Workshop

"The course and the trainer were great. I loved learning about the massage candle and the way in which the wax can be used on the skin. It was really helpful that we were provided with details of websites and a booklet of instructions. Thank you for a great morning."

Elizabeth Evans reviewed: Beginners Hand spinning - 'From fleece to fibre’ - at All in a Spin

"I was so excited about doing this course, having wanted to try spinning since I was a child. It really didn't disappoint! Dunja has created a beautiful relaxed environment that is fantastic for learning. The pace of the course and the content is just fabulous for the time. You never feel pressured or like you could be getting it all wrong, which had been my concern pre the course. The friendly support and excellent knowledge helps you settle quickly and start, in my case, to really enjoy learning all aspects of creating my own yarn. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dunja's courses at her beautiful hilltop farm. I may even see you there, as I'm going back!"

Margaret Thorpe reviewed: Realistic and Adorable Needle Felt Animals & Pets

"Had a fantastic day at Sophie's studio. Sophie is a very kind, patient teacher, and I was delighted to achieve a recognizable model by the end of the day! The day went by too quickly; lovely Sophie, good company with fellow crafters, delicious food thanks to Sophie's mum, and a new craft addiction. Really cannot recommend this course too highly. Try it. You will not be disappointed."

William E reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"My Girlfriend bought me this as a birthday present and i was thoroughly looking forward to the day once she told me! So the long awaited day came, I had been going on about trying my hand at Blacksmithing for a couple of months and now i was going to do it! Once i had arrived i was warmly welcomed by Mort and he proceeded to show me, and the other trainee, around giving us ideas of what to make. I decided to be boring and make a knife for my self but Mort was more than happy to accommodate this frequent request. Mort started by showing the techniques that would be required to make my knife, and was very supportive through out the entire process even being kind enough to jump in and help when my arm could no longer lift the hammer. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Firebird Forge and would recommend it to anyone looking to try there hand at Blacksmithing. I had a really nice time and working with Mort was both fun and educating! Top day!! I will definitely give it another go! Thanks Mort!"

"Had a fantastic day with Colin making some cool things. Learned how to put twists in the metal and punch holes amongst other things. Colin is a great instructor and was happy to explain things to us and we had a laugh with him too. Can't wait to go back."

Keith reviewed: Blacksmithing one-to-one North West UK

"Absolutely brilliant day. Colin took us through loads of different techniques on the different furnaces. Technically quite challenging at times but also really easy to get stuck in when you get the hang of it. Although I underestimated how hard it is to lift a hammer after 15 minutes of striking Took home three really neat prices of work and eager to go back to do something some other things. Really recommend it, Colin had a good laugh with us and we had a great day!! Thanks so much!!"

Carol du-Cille reviewed: Pottery / ceramics / wheel throwing full day

"Had a most enjoyable day. Lorraine was a very patient and efficient tutor. Our group of four were all pottery virgins but we all managed to produce pots of which we were very proud. We cannot wait to see the final results when fired and glazed. I will definitely be attending again in the near future. I would highly recommend Lorraine's course on throwing on the wheel to anyone with an interest in finding out what it is all about."

Iona Dowling reviewed: Green Woodworking - Make a Shave Horse

"I went on Peter's shave horse course last year and came home with a fully working item that I had made myself. I am not a woodworker but the excellent preparation that Peter did beforehand made the process smooth and easily achievable in 1 day. I was excited to be working in a proper green woodworking shop and using excellent tools, some for the first time in my life. It was great to meet other people from a variety of work backgrounds but who all have some common interest. It was a privilege to be taught by someone as skilled as Peter and his own works are an inspiration. Fully recommended."

Marilyn Rydstrom reviewed: Intermediary Glass fusing workshop with Laura Hart of Hart Glass

"Two days spent with Laura gave this complete novice an understanding of what is involved in glass fusion work. Perhaps more importantly, it gave me an appreciation of just how complex this art form is, and can be - especially when you look as some of Laura's own creations. She is a thorough, observant and patient teacher and I would recommend her course to anyone interested in working with glass. You will learn, and create, a lot!"

Theo Tanser reviewed: Green Woodworking - Make a Shave Horse

"With little experience, I was able to make a shave horse, over the course of a day. There was lots of measuring and accuracy needed but help was always at hand. Most of the wood was pre-cut to size but we had to measure drill holes. The shave horse is a great portable design and is a neat piece of kit for a forest schooler. Peter is a calm, patient and confident tutor. All tools needed were provided and waiting times to use drills were minimal. The large barn/workshop was a good environment to work in and was well heated by a woodburner. The place can be a little hard to find and I would always follow Pete's instructions rather than the sat nav or GPS. Value for money - Excellent."

Ali Quinlivan reviewed: Blacksmithing Experience Day

"The best birthday party our 11 year old has ever had. He took three friends and they made amazing dagger door knockers. For four hours their interest never waned. Col was excellent - his patience and sense of humour was perfect for the boys. All of them want to do it again!"

rob lane reviewed: Woodturning in Devon with Colin Simpson

"Having just spent a day with my 12 year old son on a beginner session with Colin I can say that every previous review is spot on. His enthusiasm for his craft is clear but its the calm, consistent approach that really has really given us confidence to get started turning on own. The day itself is really well structured and the fact that we both had fun and came away with beautiful finished bowls was just great. Thanks Colin!!"

Heather Garrod reviewed: Soap making

"I attended a first class soap making workshop Diane was running. She made it fun and extremely easy to understand. We were able to customise our soap for the smell we preferred by using essential oils. Everything we used was natural and of the highest quality. Her knowledge is phenomenal. Whilst we waited for the next stage of our soap making we lunched outside (It was summer!) in her garden. The whole day was totally relaxing. I came away floating on air! After a few days when the soaps had set I received them. They came in a long strip to be cut into the required size. The strip is big enough for 8 good sized bars. They make great presents for friends and family and are even more special when you tell the recipients you made the soap yourself! I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day and look forward to doing more workshops with Diane."

Jen Searle reviewed: Private, One to One Traditional Jewellery Making Classes, York

"The classes are small so the teaching experience is personal, relaxed and I always look forward to attending. You can work at your own pace. If you have your own ideas then great, but if like me you are sometimes lacking in this area, then Emma is always there with some creative guidance. There is never a dull lesson, as there is always something new to learn and Emma's teaching style is perfect for this environment. I couldn't recommend more."
