Course Start DatesTuesday 18th February 2020
About the Course
This is a 3 hour project which I can run any time between 10am and 9pm to suit you on the selected dates.
Design and make your own unique neckwarmer or art scarf using your imagination and a rainbow of finest wools and silks.
This is a lovely short fashion project combines the learning of an ancient skill with your inner 'artistry' and a wealth of colourful natural fibres.
You can make lightweight scarfs for summer and spring by using more silk and thinner layers to achieve a gossamer effect.
I'll take you through the whole process from design, choosing your palette, laying out the fibres and successfully felting, fulling and finishing the project.
The beauty of working in a small setting if 1-3 people means that you get expert tuition and undivided attention and I can work to your strengths and add to your skills. Nothing worse than sitting bored and unnoticed at the back of a large class unable to catch the eye of the instructor. This way, I can really build on your skills and help you fulfil your expectations.
Think about how this special accessory is going to enhance or blend with your favourite fashion items. Learn how to blend wool fibres by carding to create your own colours and how to gently trap the lustrous silk threads to embellish your design.
Contact me to arrange a date and time to suit you. I'm happy to run this with 1 to 3 people in my studio or up to 12 people in a more spacious setting of your choice.
Ideal gift for birthdays and banishing the winter blues.
Special price of £40 for January and February only. Price rises to £45 in March and April.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Tuition, tools, materials, refreshments, blog notes.
You can select and buy your own pack of wools and silks to create more fashion felting projects at home.
Judi came to our home to give class and i was very happy with my neckwarmer. It is blue and green with fringes. She is nice lady.

Judi came to our place to run a special workshop for 3 adults with learning difficulties. With her enthusiasm, colourful materials and excellent teaching skills, we all had a thoroughly enjoyable experience making short scarves to wear as neckwarmers. Everyone made something special to be proud of and at every stage Judi was patient and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. I've been asked to post three short reviews on behalf of the residents. Thank you.

I am delighted to have made a very stylish and snug neckwarmer in an afternoon. I loved the colours of the wools and silks and their soft textures. The whole process was revealing with design and layout taking up a large part before the actual felting and rolling. Excellent course.

Sheila just wants to add her comments to Denise's review below:
"I would just like to add that I thoroughly enjoyed the course - I'm delighted with my garment - and we both very much enjoyed your company too; being the absolutely perfect person for the venture you're running."

Mum and I did this workshop together. We were the only 2 people so got very individual attention.
Judi was welcoming, helpful and encouraging. Three were plenty of wonderful materials to choose from and she was generous in letting us make our selections for the design of our scarves.
We really enjoyed the class from start to finish and were very pleased with the results. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this.

Response from Felting in Devon:Hi Denise and Sheila,
This was the second felting course I've taken with Judi as I was so impressed by the landscape course the first time. Her enthusiasm and inspiration are infectious and she is so knowledgeable and patient that it makes learning fun!
I can genuinely say that I'm delighted with my scarf which I shall definitely wear out, rather than hide in the drawer.
I'm looking out for my next project. I feel full of ideas and possibilities now. Very, very happy. Also, it was nice being with a friend as we made more progress. Plenty of teas, coffees and biscuits too!

My friend and I spent a delightful morning with Judi as she patiently showed us how to choose our colour palette and to lay out a design and follow the whole felting process. We had such a good time and I'm totally thrilled with my scarf as it's unique and special. Very enjoyable and educational.
This was my second time with Judi and it was of a really high standard.

Response from Felting in Devon:That's great Connie. Thanks for letting ne know. It was my pleasure.
I loved making this so cosy and so colourful little scarf! It was a very clear lesson to learn from start to finish in one morning. For me, the colours are very beautiful and its very funny making the fringes and adding curly locks and silk thread to accentuate the cross-over. Many years ago, I did felting as child in Holland so it is interesting to find more techniques. Plenty of good coffee and conversation with Judi also. Excellent.

Response from Felting in Devon:It was lovely to meet you and so glad you liked the session. Your painting was lovely.
