I attended one of the Friday morning embroidery classes, having done a couple of full-day courses with Dawn. The studio is such a great place to be - it's light and airy with a lovely calm atmosphere and it's full of fabrics, threads, books and I am always feel inspired just by being there! In the class I went to we did applique and reverse applique but I also took a piece of my own because I wanted a bit of help with it. As always, Dawn was encouraging, helpful and gave me the support I needed. Going on a Friday morning was a marvellous thing to do after 4 busy days at work and I would highly recommend this class.

Response from Dawn Ireland Textile Artist:

Really pleased you enjoyed the morning class Penny. Thank you so much for writing your lovely review.

Dawn's weekly classes are always well planned so that a new technique, style or theme is introduced (though participants are able to work on their own projects if preferred). Dawn is always at hand to offer help and advice and has a lovely warm and encouraging manner. There are a vast array of resources available within the studio - fabrics, threads, buttons etc. of every style/colour. A thoroughly enjoyable weekly workshop and highly recommended.

Response from Dawn Ireland Textile Artist:

Hi Alison,
Thanks for writing a lovely review of the weekly embroidery classes.

Ros Kelson - - #35220

I so look forward to my weekly free machine embroidery class, having never done this type of sewing before. Dawn is an excellent teacher, patient, gentle, encouraging and very creative. She shows us different techniques every week - including painting on fabric. I have learned so much already. Her studio is in an old building, airy and full of light and an ‘Aladdin’s cave’ of all things sewing related plus lots of interesting plants, pictures and objects to inspire us.
I take my own sewing machine but Dawn can provide sewing machines for those who maybe don’t have one or don’t want to carry it there. All materials etc are provided.
There is plenty of space so we can socially distance but still chat to each other.
Oh, and there is tea and chocolate biscuits too 😃

Response from Dawn Ireland Textile Artist:

Thanks for your lovely review Ros

I always look forward to the two hours on Wednesday morning spent with Dawn and her happy class of sewers at the Dronfield Hall Barn. It’s great to have someone so talented sharing their expertise so freely, and inspiring the class with the materials and techniques she introduces each week.

Dawn is a very kind and generous teacher, who always has words of encouragement. When I started the class just weeks ago, I hadn't sewn for about 15 years. Thanks to Dawn, I’ve gained the confidence to tackle all types of adventurous projects. And Dawn’s stimulating help each Wednesday spurs me on.

Dawn's teaching, coupled with the large range of materials she provides make this class excellent value for money.

Response from Dawn Ireland Textile Artist:

Thank you Carole for a really lovely review.

I have been attending Dawn's classes for around a term now, and enjoy them so much. I find it a lovely way to relax and forget about my problems whilst learning new techniques.

Dawn tends to start the class with a short demonstration each week, which you can either use as inspiration for your project that week, or you can do something completely different, or bring a project from home.

Dawn is on hand throughout to offer advice and guidance, suggestions on fabric, to help with threading your machine, or whatever you need.

I find the classes so inspiring - it is wonderful to see what everyone else is working on that week, and quite often I come home just wanting to start sewing as soon as I get in. I am now building up a collection of pieces I have made, which I am framing and will put on the walls.

Response from Dawn Ireland Textile Artist:

Thanks for your lovely review Vicky!
