'The Full Kit' Encaustic Painting (2 people)

Description

Enjoy an 'Introduction to Encaustic Painting' with a friend! Using 'The Full Kit' (heat gun, blow torch, molten encaustic medium, heated palette, razor blades & molten paint) you will have step-by-step instruction. We will work towards creating a small landscape or abstract encaustic painting together with a bespoke photo encaustic print mounted on wood ... having said that there is absolutely no pressure to complete anything. The emphasis for these workshops is on exploration & experimentation. You will explore: - using wax as an painting medium - the history of encaustic painting - working on different substrates - process driven experimentation - how to work with the wax to create smooth and textured surfaces - using a blow torch & heat gun to fuse and manipulate the wax - using oil sticks, pigmented wax and collage - blending, layering and mark making with a variety of tools - photo transfer techniques - intaglio Sessions are tailored for the individual and so are suitable for both beginners and those who have been before. Please note: you will be working with a hot plate, blow torch, heat gun, razor blades and very hot wax; the process is fairly physical and there is one step into the workspace. Morning session & afternoon sessions available (if session times don't suit, I can be flexible). Gift vouchers available!

What's included in the price?

Most materials, equipment and light refreshments (drinks & homemade cake) are provided. If you require lunch, please bring your own. Price is for two people. Get in touch if you need advice on accommodation - yurts and Airbnb available to book in the village.
