About the course:
Join Pippa Pixley, a member of the International Marbling Network for a creative one day workshop: showing how to make your own beautiful marbled papers. This workshop will be held in a lovely studio in the heart of the Peak District National Park.
Marbling is the aqueous surface design method of creating unique and beautiful mono-prints by swirling, rippling, splashing and combining different pigments floated on the surface of a seaweed-based size, and then transferring those patterns directly into prepared papers.
In this workshop you will learn how to set up your size, mix paints, mordant your paper and to create beautiful patterns using various combs. Everyone will leave with beautiful marbled paper, ideas and techniques to try at home.
This workshop is limited to a small number of only 6 people. There are only 3 places left.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

Fantastic course and Pippa is such a lovely person and a great teacher. I was so looking forward to learning how to marble and how to address problems that can occur when marbling. I have to say that the day not only met but also exceeded my expectations. We were shown how to Marble, but also how to do Suminagashi. Pippa had obviously planned ahead well and was organised with some lovely surprises on the day that just added a personal touch. Pippa is full of energy, very approachable and answered any questions we posed.
The day flew by with us being very hands on, producing various pieces of lovely art work. The course catered for all levels and types of people and I would highly recommend it. It has definitely given me the bug to go home and try and develop my skills further and also look at other courses Pippa runs.
The marbling day with Pippa was inspiring, informative and fun. Pippa took us through the basics of sumagashi then encouraged us to dive right in, then more demonstration and lots of marbling techniques to try. The mix of demonstration, explanation and hands on practice was perfect. Pippa brought a generous selection of materials and tools, with lovely papers and a rainbow of colours to choose from. And there was cake.
Pippa's paper marbling course was great, just what I wanted. She introduced the basics and got us to dive in very quickly, producing our own work throughout the day. Her enthusiasm, knowledge and good humour were inspiring. Keep up the good work!
I didn't quite know what to expect from the course as I had not done anything quite like this before and I must say it is one of the most enjoyable courses I have ever attended! Pippa was lovely. She was patient and helpful. She is a creative dynamo- and her enthusiasm is contagious. This course is suitable for the 'nervous and afraid' as well as for people with perhaps more artistic backgrounds- no artistic judgements were made, and all the course participants were politely curious about each others work. For people who learn best by demonstration and are happy to have a go themselves, this course is perfect. I will definitely be trying to recreate the wonderful marbled papers we produced on the course at home.
A lovely tutor, small class, and very hands on . . . just how I like courses - watch, try, experiment and get help when it all goes wrong! Thanks Pippa
