Stamping, embossing & wet-moulding leather

Stamping, embossing & wet-moulding leather

We have recently achieved the Visit England "We're Good to Go" accreditation.

This half day course will introduce you to the principles of stamping, embossing, wet-moulding and dying leather through the making of your own hand dyed leather keyring, bookmark (or hair barrette) and wet-moulded leather bowl.

A hands on course during which you will learn how to stamp, emboss, wet-mould & dye vegetable tanned leather to make three separate items.

Closed toe footwear should be worn. If you wish to protect your clothing (from dye etc.) please bring a suitable apron.

(Due to Covid-19 we are aware that some students would prefer to do this workshop as either a 1-2-1 or in a family group. We can offer this by prior arrangement on mutually agreed dates. Please contact us to discuss.)

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 8 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

The price includes tuition, use of the tools and materials including the leather, paper etc.

Individually packaged cold drinks & individually wrapped snacks will be provided. Please bring your own lunch. (We are not currently providing hot drinks as part of our Covid-19 measures.)

Temporary COVID-19 Cancelation Policy:
Information: If for any reason due to the pandemic we are unable to run this workshop on its planned date (or a participant is unable to attend due to following government guidelines) the affected student(s) will be given reasonable priority for any future dates for the same workshop or will also have the option to book onto an alternative workshop of equal or greater value providing any difference in cost is paid.

Refunds due will be paid to the original payee by the original payment method. If you do not turn up for your workshop, you will not be eligible for a refund nor will you be eligible to move your booking to an alternative date.

In the unlikely event that a workshop has to be cancelled by Evancliffe Leathercraft, you will be offered the choice of a full refund or the opportunity to book onto an alternative workshop (if available). You will be given as much notice as possible if a workshop has to be cancelled.

I attended the one day course with my adult daughter in June. Wendy and Clive were very welcoming and the course was very enjoyable. Wendy gave very clear instructions and guided us through all the processes. She is very knowledgeable and was happy to tell us how we could purchase the stamps etc should we decide to continue working in leather on our own. We made, decorated and dyed several items with which we were very pleased. I'd imagined a degree of strength was required and as I'm recovering from surgery I was concerned that I wouldn't get the most out of the day but I managed fine.
I wholeheartedly recommend this course which I feel is suitable for adults of all ages and older children.

I would like to thank Wendy and Clive for the recent wet moulding course I attended, leather work courses are few and far between and it was a shame only two people turned up for this course as although only a half day course there is still enough time to cover different aspects, and come away with some quality items, it's a very enjoyable old craft, and a lot can be learned from a hands on course, I hope to make the journey for more of their courses in the future

Response from Evancliffe Leathercraft:

Thank you for the review. It was a shame that the course was not full, however we are currently in challenging and strange times. The afternoon workshop was full and we actually put on an extra workshop in the evening for two health workers looking to do something crafty. We were very pleased to help out there, that is for sure.

We have currently postponed our next workshop (Hand Bound Jouirnal) and will advise on other workshops in line with the advice we are being given nearer to their scheduled date. Any bookings made will be transferable to another workshop. We do expect high demand once this is over. So if you like thelook of something, just book it safe in the knowledge that if we have to postpone we will simply move the booking to a later date and anyone already booked will be first in the queue.

Keep enjoying your leatherwork and it was great to see the photos you have posted on our facebook page!

My wife and I were given two places on the course as a gift - we both absolutely loved the course!!

Wendy & Clive were both extremely welcoming and the atmosphere for the class was relaxed. The class was well paced and structured brilliantly so even as complete beginners, you could make progress quickly.

Would highly recommend (and we’ve already recommended it to friends).

Proper tea, great biscuits and some of the best views around from the workshop are an added bonus ;-).

Response from Evancliffe Leathercraft:

Thank you for our 50th five star review! Great to hear that you both enjoyed the workshop, tea and view!

We're off to polish our new Craft Courses Platinum Award! :)

Attended this course with my 11 and 16yr old daughters - they absolutely loved it.
It was about a month / six weeks ago we did the course and still they are proudly showing off what they did to anyone who will look at it and telling me I must arrange days like this one.

Response from Evancliffe Leathercraft:

We are really pleased that you all enjoyed the workshop and thank you for the review.

Great to hear the work is still being shown off!

I had a great time at the course arranged by my local craft group. I learnt lots and , as we given a choice of projects, learnt to stitch as well as embossing and dyeing. Clive and Wendy were great teachers, clear and supportive while always giving you the space to do it yourself. They have lots of equipment to give a professional finish. I would recommend this course and you certainly do not need to be particularly arty or crafty.

My husband and I enjoyed this course hugely! We learned so much during the session and were delighted by the things we made. Both bowls are being used regularly and have received several compliments!

Response from Evancliffe Leathercraft:

We are really pleased you enjoyed the workshop especially as it was for such a special day.
