Use Silver Clay to create 2 stunning solid silver rings, ready to wear home. One will have a patterned ring band, the other will incorporate a stone setting of your choice. Silver Art Clay (Precious Metal Clay) is an amazing material...It can be sculpted by hand, then heat-fired to form solid hallmark quality silver. This is a rewarding way to fashion beautiful jewellery without the need for traditional silversmithing tools. You will learn how to size, design, make and fire your own silver rings. This workshop is perfect for beginners or those with experience. Various processes will be covered during the day: Roll out clay & add texture/pattern Cut out your ring bands to size Incorporate a stone Sand & prepare your pieces for firing Fire, polish & add patinas "An excellent day...I loved every minute!" "There really is something so special about taking raw material and turning it into something uniquely yours" Tutor: Louise Collins Louise is an award winning jewellery designer based in Leicestershire. She is a qualified Senior Tutor, holding the Art Clay Higher Diploma. She had been teaching for many years and loves sharing her skills with others. Materials: Materials fee: £25 - £30 per person to make two rings. This includes 10 grams of Silver Clay and up to two gemstones (choose from a variety of shapes & colours). Also use of all tools and firing. Optional extras: £14 for additional 5 grams of Sliver Clay. Additional gems based on size: £1.50 for 5/6mm stones, £1 for 3/4mm, 50p for 1/1.5mm. The exact price will be determined by the size and number of items you make. The materials fee is in addition to the course fee. Health & Safety: This workshop involves the use of heat and some sharp tools. Protective equipment will be provided as necessary and clear safety briefings given. The materials are non-toxic. Lunch & refreshments: A tasty light lunch is included in the course fee. Help yourself to drinks and biscuits throughout the day with homemade cake mid-afternoon. Zantium Studios is clearly marked on Google Maps.
We are on the edge of the Peak District (Derbyshire) - near Wirksworth, a few miles from Matlock.
Clear directions will be sent by email a month prior to the course.
The Zantium Studio is on the first floor which involves a flight of 11 steps. There is a handrail to one side.
The toilet is on the first floor directly opposite the Studio.
There are a number of exterior stone steps and uneven ground from the car park to the house.
We have off-street parking for several cars
Full Day Courses:
A tasty light lunch is included in the course fee. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available all day to help yourself and home-made cake served mid afternoon.
Half Day Courses:
Drinks and snacks are included in the course fee. Tea, coffee, biscuits are available to help yourself and home-made cake at break time.
We have a top Food Hygiene Rating of 5.
Any special dietary requirements must be communicated in advance and we will do our best to cater to your needs. However, customers with allergies or severe intolerances should bring their own food. Our kitchen is in a domestic setting and we cannot guarantee a “free-from” environment.

'Godfrey Hole Cottage' is on site. It has 2 bedrooms, a double and a single
'The Counting House' is a mile from the Zantium Studio in the town of Wirksworth. It has one double bedroom (ensuite)
Should the advertised tutor be unable to attend, we reserve the right to substitute a tutor of equal standing.
In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a course, customers will receive a full refund or the chance to transfer to another course from our Zantium Studios programme. This may happen due to severe weather, illness or if we receive an insufficient number of bookings. In such cases, we will always give as much notice as possible. However, we cannot accept responsibility for any associated plans you may have made such as travel, accommodation etc. Customers should consider taking out their own cancellation insurance.
