Join me in my studio, The Mulberry Shed, and enjoy a fun creative day learning about silk painting using steam-set dyes. Come along and try out using cold wax as a resist to achieve a faux-batik effect, try using stamps or using the dyes with 'anti-spread' and 'thickener', or adding a sprinkling of sugar as you paint to create a fun effect.
This workshop is for both adventurous beginners and those who have silk painted before. Beginners may choose this workshop if they'd prefer to try these techniques rather than using the outliner (gutta) technique used in the introductory workshops. Those who have tried silk painting before, or wish to brush up on an old hobby, can develop their skills further and have fun experimenting, or simply working on a new project.
We will look at each of the techniques and experiment with them, enabling you to design and create your own unique beautiful scarf or painting during the day - or why not create a 'techniques sampler' as a reminder of the different effects that can be achieved.
The workshop runs from 10.30am - 4.30pm, with a maximum of 4 students to ensure everyone has space to work and lots of time for tuition and asking questions.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
The cost includes the use of equipment and silk dyes, silk handkerchief, scarf or fabric and the steaming process needed afterwards to set the dyes.
Free tea/coffee and biscuits provided throughout the day...just bring a packed lunch and your creativity!
