Powertex Garden Fairy House - introductory Workshop

A fantasy fairy house
X

About the Course

Taught by Do Creative Workshops and experienced certified Powertex tutors, in our dedicated studio.

We comply with social distancing and safety measures. Mask wearing is entirely optional.

We will use recycling principles in creating a totally unique to you garden fairy house. Using a provided glass jar and adding on structures and forms to give the shape you desire. Whether you fancy a twisted roof, a twin chimney or a pointed spire, its up to you. we will guide you through all the options to ensure your creation turns out fabulous.

Once we have created the base shape, we will teach the basic principles of Powertex and using natural fabrics to add texture and design, embedding little door and window elements within the fabrics. Different types of fabrics will produce different textures which means even if individuals use the same basic products, each fairy house will be a unique creation which can never be replicated.

A refreshment break is planned while the house dries off for half an hour.

Once the house is touch dry, you will be taught dry brush techniques and a range of options and coloured pigments to get the results you want.

There are no specific skills required in the workshops apart from a little manual dexterity. The workshops are suitable for all ages and abilities. Children are welcome from age 8 with adult supervision. We are happy for an adult and child to work together on a single project.

We take private bookings outside these times for family bubble social distancing events.

Your delightful fairy house will be ready for you to take home at the end of the workshop. Your fairy house will need to stay indoors for three weeks until fully weatherproof and it is ready to go out into the garden for fairies and pixies to move into. You might want to start a little fairy village!

Our dedicated art studio also has a range of Powertex products which you can purchase if you wish.

This was excellent fun, I highly recommend it. Kim was a great tutor, really helpful and enthusiastic and the work she has produced is stunning. It was great going home with a unique fairy house. I will definitely want to do this craft again.
