About the Course

Taught by Do Creative Workshops and Certified Powertex tutors.

Our regular monthly workshops run at two sessions;
Afternoons from 12.30 until 14.30
Evenings from 16.00 until 20.00

In the workshops we are based on the principles of recycling and making use of items you might generally throw out.
We will recycle a glass jar by creating an add on structure to give the shape you desire. Whether you fancy a twisted roof, a twin chimney or a pointed spire.

Once we have created the base shape, we will use Powertex and natural fabrics to add texture and design, embedding little door and window elements within the fabrics. Different types of fabrics will produce different textures which means even if individuals use the same basic products, each fairy house will be a unique creation which can never be replicated.

Whilst the little house is drying, we can have a cuppa and a bit of home made cake.

Once the house is touch dry, you will be taught dry brush techniques and a range of options to get the results you want.

There are no specific skills required in the workshops apart from a little manual dexterity. The workshops are suitable for all ages and abilities. Children are welcome from age 8 with adult supervision. We are happy for an adult and child to work together on a single project.

Your delightful fairy house will be ready for you to take home at the end of the workshop. Your fairy house will need to stay indoors for three weeks until fully weatherproof and it is ready to go out into the garden for fairies and pixies to move into. You might want to start a little fairy village!

Our dedicated art studio also has a range of Powertex products which you can purchase if you wish.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

All products are provided in our dedicated art studio, including refreshments and often home made cakes!

This was excellent fun, I highly recommend it. Kim was a great tutor, really helpful and enthusiastic and the work she has produced is stunning. It was great going home with a unique fairy house. I will definitely want to do this craft again.
