Description
Powertex garden plaque workshop. This is the second in my series of garden plaques session - the wise old owl. Powertex is all about texture, so you will learn all about the wonders of this product as you work it into a variety of fabrics to create some amazing textures before adding lots of embellishments. Once it's nice and dry, we'll add colour using pigments and varnish to really bring your creation to life. After 3-weeks curing time your plaque will be ready to adorn your garden fence.

Hi everyone! I discovered Folk Art painting a number of years ago and fell in love with Canal Art (even though I don't own a canal boat). I took a course with Terence Edgar, a Master Decorative Painter on Roses and Castles at Stoke Bruene Canal Museum, which was my introduction to the traditional way to paint this long-established art form. I am a Certified Decorative Artist (CDA) via the Decorative Artists Academy, USA (previously The Society of Decorative Painters), and so far I am the first and only UK citizen to have achieved this. I am also a Certified Powertex Tutor. Powertex is a versatile medium used for fabric sculpting, painting and mixed media which, once cured, is weatherproof. I am passionate about sharing my skills in both decorative painting and Powertex through workshops held at my home studio and other venues in Warwickshire. I look forward to creating with you this year 😊
FAQs
These recommendations relate to both Painting and Powertex workshops. Although both are water based and non toxic Powertex is essentially a fabric hardener and even acrylic paint, once dry is permanent and will not wash out of your clothes. Both are wonderfully versatile products to use but if you are anything like me, it can get a little messy and any unnoticed splashes or spills well become permanent so:
Please DO NOT wear your best clothing, including footwear.
Please DO NOT wear rings and/or bracelets set with precious stones.
Gloves (powder/latex free) and aprons will be provided but I cannot guarantee these will protect everything.
Unless specifically stated in the workshop description, everything you need is provided including refreshments of tea or coffee but you are welcome to bring your own speciality or decaf alternatives.
All products and materials required to complete your project, gloves and aprons will be provided.
If you have booked a workshop of 4 hours or more please bring snacks and/or a packed lunch with you.
Not specifically.
There are 3 small steps into the studio, once inside everything is on one level and there are double doors to the main room.
The WC is a standard household facility and does not have disabled features (i.e. no wall mounted handles etc), but the door is larger than a standard door and I believe would allow a wheelchair/mobility aid access.
If you are unsure whether this will be suitable, or need more information please contact me directly.
There is plenty of parking space, but please note, although it is all on one level there are areas of gravel which may be a little awkward for wheelchairs/mobility aids but parking is available close to the flat paved area.
There are 3 small steps into my studio, if you are unsure whether you will be able to gain access please contact me BEFORE booking a place.
