One-two-one beginners dressmaking: made to measure shift dress
Learn how to make a made to measure shift dress, from a professional fashion designer and dressmaker, and in a real fashion design studio . I teach the art of Dressmaking in my studio in a mill in Manchester city centre, on the edge of the Northern Quarter. All levels, including total beginners, welcome.
Learn how to make your own shift dress tailored perfectly to your own measurements.
Learn key skills such as using patterns (choosing the right size pattern and altering it to your measurements), cutting garments out (learning the right way of cutting a garment and how to make the best of the fabric), using different sewing machines for different purposes, seaming, inserting facings, sewing darts, hemming, adding zips and finishing garments to a high standard, all the way to fitting it properly. A skill for life!
This course lasts 8 hours in total, spread in 4 x 2 hour long sessions. I recommend to do it in 4 consecutive weeks but I am flexible.
