Multi-coloured screen printing the photo emulsion way

Multicolour screen printing with printmaker Lou Davis in Edinburgh City Centre

On this full day screen printing workshop with artist and printmaker Lou Davis, you will learn to coat, expose, print and clean silk screens using the photo emulsion method.

You’ll create a design for screen printing, transfer your design to a screen and print it onto printmaking paper. We’ll cover how to register your prints so they print in the same place every time.

We’ll create multi-coloured prints with two or more layers. You’ll make an edition of up to ten prints and choose your favourite to frame, ready for your wall or to give as a gift.

You may want to bring some ideas for artwork with you. You can either hand draw them onto tracing paper or you can bring a digital image on a memory stick that we can print onto acetate. Digital images need to be printed in black so photos with a lot of contrast and line drawings can work well, but faint lines and subtle textures don’t transfer well.

If you’re in any doubt about whether the images you have in mind are suitable, or whether you have sufficient experience to get the most from this workshop, please get in touch before the workshop.

Refunds are not available on this booking. Start dates may be amended on request.
