Multi-coloured screen printing the photo emulsion way
Description
In this intermediate level screen printing workshop with artist and printmaker Lou Davis, you will learn to coat, expose, print and clean silk screens using the photo emulsion method. You’ll create a design for screen printing, transfer your design to a screen and print it onto printmaking paper. We’ll cover how to register your prints so they print in the same place every time. For this full day workshop, we’ll create multi-coloured prints with two or more layers. You’ll make an edition of up to ten prints and choose your favourite to frame, ready for your wall or to give as a gift. It’s a good idea to think about what you’d like to print before the workshop. Please bring some ideas for artwork with you, which we’ll draw by hand onto tracing paper during the first part of the workshop. We will have inspiration on hand if you’re stuck! It is possible to print from digital images but these must be prepared before the workshop, so if you’d like to take up this option, please contact us at least 7 days beforehand so we can properly advise you on what will print well. We will then print your ready prepared images onto screen printing acetate ready for the workshop. Digital images need to be printed in black so photos and line drawings can work well, but faint lines and subtle textures don’t transfer well. If you are sourcing imagery from the internet, please ensure you have the necessary rights to use it. If you’re in any doubt about whether the images you have in mind are suitable, or whether you have sufficient experience to get the most from this workshop, please get in touch before the workshop.
