Mixed Bobbin Lace Making - 3 day Workshops in Surrey.

At the current time it is good to carry on being creative and focusing on the present. So if you run into trouble with your lace and need any form of help, please get in touch with me (via;- 'contact a tutor') and also attach a picture and I will try and help.

These three days would be an ideal opportunity to relax and make lace, enjoying the company of like minded people. Come along and try your hand at one of the laces below, or work on your current project, or have help starting a new project. Alternatively, this would be an ideal time to begin learning a Lace Type that is new to you.

Tina has over 30yrs experience in making bobbin lace, able to teach in;- Binche, Bedfordshire, Chrysanthemum, Flanders, Honiton, Idrija, Milanese, Russian & Torchon. She is also able to provide guidance to those wishing to start;- Bucks-point, Hinojosa & Duchesse/Withof.
If you have any questions do please get in touch for more information.

Tina has passed her City and Guilds teaching qualification and has regular classes at a number of location within Surrey. In 2019 Tina was engaged by Pinewood Studios to make lace and teach the actresses for the filming of the BBC Black Narcissus series.

Why not come along and work on your existing project and have help/guidance with any problems that may occur, or have you always wanted to try one of the above many laces ?

Tina is willing to start you off with a new, or existing, lace technique. This will involve helping you to start, from the beginning, so that you know what to do and are in total control of your lace, with small sample pieces and gradually building up to you being able to work the pattern that you have envisaged doing. I am also holding other mixed & specialised workshops later in the year, but always very happy for you to bring your own lace to any of the workshops.

Beginners are always welcome and will commence with what is traditionally your first piece of lace. This will show the two stitches that are required for bobbin lace making. Once you can work these stitches, you will be able to move onto something more exciting. The different laces use these two stitches, along with different techniques to achieve the various effects & patterns, just like knitting.

A variety of lace techniques will be on offer at each workshop over the next few months, please contact me for more details and also happy for you to bring your current project to the session and work with help & guidance as required. Attending a class of this nature offers the chance to share tips and experiences that are not found in books, but only from the experience of numerous lace tutors that have guided me.

Tina has also mentored a student through Lace Guild 'Foundation Assessment' for Torchon Lace and is also willing to mentor anyone thinking of doing the Lace Guild Assessment.

Unlike other course providers, there will be no paperwork for you to fill in, however I would appreciate feedback and for you to leave a review for this course.

Effingham is on the A246, and has bus routes from Leatherhead & Guildford, Effingham Junction & Bookham stations are both about 2mls away, or accessible via M25/A3.

Last week end, 18/19 September 2021, I joined Tina's workshop. I was made most welcome and felt cared for. My knowledge was zero! I have come away from this weekend with a confidence I did not expect, knowing I can phone Tina if I am 'stuck' and she will talk me through it. The weekend was relaxed and informal. Tina was always my shoulder when I seem to get lost. I hope to join another course if not this year, definitely next year. Thank you Tina and Steven for making my experience so relaxed and happy.

Response from Tina Pedrick - Bobbin Lace Teacher & Maker.:

Hi Brenda
It's always good to hear that students have enjoyed a workshop, and they are itching to keep the lace going.

Looking forward to seeing your caterpillar bookmarks made in the two stitches we covered over the weekend.

Keep in touch.
Regards Tina

I have been making Idrija Lace for sometime but was having difficulty understanding how to work the corners.
I booked a one-to-one day session yesterday with Tina to learn how to work the various corners. And I finally understand how to work them.
Tina is a great teacher and very knowledgeable about Lace.
I had a really great day and will definitely attend more workshops.

Response from Tina Pedrick - Bobbin Lace Teacher & Maker.:

Hi Sushma

It was really good to meet you, along with helping you to understand the technique of working the corner in Idrija lace. I am looking forward to seeing the finished piece of lace. Lets hope the next time we meet it will be with other students so there is more interaction and hopefully more information for you too pick up. Regards Tina

Having recently attended one of Tina's workshops, I am thrilled to be 'up-and-running' again with my lace-making. Tina was able to assess my skill level and with her encouragement, patience and instruction I was able to embark on a piece I was keen to make. It was a most inspiring and uplifting day for me and I look forward to attending more of her classes.

Response from Tina Pedrick - Bobbin Lace Teacher & Maker.:

Hello Nan

I have just spent a very enjoyable day on one of Tina's workshops. She is a very knowledgeable and patient teacher and is incredibly keen for her pupils to enjoy their lace making and to progress their skills. This is my third workshop with her, they have all been good fun and I have learned a huge amount to give me the confidence to work on pieces by myself.

Response from Tina Pedrick - Bobbin Lace Teacher & Maker.:

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It was great to see you. I am very pleased that you enjoyed both this workshop and the others you have attended. It's nice to know that my students enjoy coming and are wishing to carry on with this very versatile craft, along with keeping the craft alive.

I recently attended a three day workshop with Tina.
She was very helpful and patient. The piece of lace that I am working on grew under her tutelage.
I am looking forward to attending another course in the near future.

Response from Tina Pedrick - Bobbin Lace Teacher & Maker.:

It was a pleasure to guide you through your pattern, as well as seeing it emerge. I would love to see the finished piece. Looking forward to seeing you when you next attend a workshop.
Best wishes Tina

We had a great weekend with Tina who is an excellent teacher. As complete beginners we were given a thorough over view of lace making from beginning bobbing winding through to a variety of stiches to enable us to practice at home. The course was relaxed and we were able to work at our own pace. Looking forward to returning in the future to enhance our skills.

Response from Tina Pedrick - Bobbin Lace Teacher & Maker.:

Good Morning to you both.

I am very happy that you felt you have plenty of stitches and techniques to practise. Looking forward to seeing your bookmarks when we next meet. Hope you enjoy your new hobby.
Regards Tina

I attended the Honiton lace making course earlier this week.
I had never made Honiton lace before and was very pleased to be able to complete the piece in the two days.
Tina was very patient and even lent me the bobbins and a pillow so that I could use the correct equipment.
Without her help I would never have been able to finish.

Response from Tina Pedrick - Bobbin Lace Teacher & Maker.:

Hello Nicole
I am very pleased that you enjoyed the course, and that the pattern proved the correct one for a student to complete in two days. I look forward to seeing the finished piece, as well as hoping you may wish to try the next pattern at the Honiton workshop planned for later in the year.
Thanks for coming on the course and your support, regards Tina
