Course Start DatesFriday 27th March 2020
About the Course
These three days would be an ideal opportunity to relax and make lace enjoying the company of like minded people. Come along and try your hand at one of the laces below or work on your current project, or have help starting a new project. Or this would be an ideal time to begin learning a new type of lace to you!
Join one of my bobbin lace making workshops, or, have your own 1-2-1 session. For those who encounter a problem, with an existing pattern; Tina also holds a lace surgery as & when required.
Tina has 27 years experience in making bobbin lace, able to teach in Binche, Bedfordshire, Chrysanthemum, Flanders, Honiton, Idrija, Milanese, Russian and Torchon. She is also able to provide guidance for beginners wishing to start making Bucks point, Duchesse/Whitof. Tina has recently passed her City and Guilds teaching qualification and has regular classes at Surrey Adult Learning and privately at Addlestone & Gatwick. Recently Tina has been making lace for Pinewood Studios, and teaching the actresses on the Black Narcissus for BBC at Pinewood studios.
Why not come along and work on your existing project and have help/guidance with any problems that may occur, or have you always wanted to try one of the above many laces ?
Tina is willing to start you off with a new, or existing, lace technique. This will involve helping you to start, from the beginning, so that you know what to do & are in control of the lace, with small sample pieces and gradually building up to you being able to work the pattern that you have envisaged doing. I am also holding other mixed & specialised workshops later in the year, but always very happy for you to bring your own lace to any of the workshops.
Beginners are always welcome and will commence with what is traditionally your first piece of lace. This will show the two stitches that are required for bobbin lace making. Once you can work these stitches, you will be able to move onto something more exciting. The different laces use these two stitches, along with different techniques to achieve the various effects & patterns, just like knitting.
A variety of lace techniques will be on offer at each workshop over the next few months, please contact me for more details.
Happy for you to bring your current project to the session and work with help & guidance as required.
Class size: 10 Students (max).

I attended the Honiton lace making course earlier this week.
I had never made Honiton lace before and was very pleased to be able to complete the piece in the two days.
Tina was very patient and even lent me the bobbins and a pillow so that I could use the correct equipment.
Without her help I would never have been able to finish.
