A half day experience for the bee fan who would like to know more.
We start off with a short talk on some of the basic aspects of bee keeping; including the life cycle of bees, the jobs they do and an introduction to the equipment used.
An opportunity to look inside a hive will follow as we suit up (bee suits provided) and head out to the apiary to carry out a hive inspection.
This experience is a great choice for anyone who has ever thought about keeping bees but would like an opportunity to get a little hands on before diving in.
If you would like to meet the bees with younger children we can run a family session for two adults and two children (minimum seven years of age). This version lasts two hours and you will be the only visitors present during the session. We are flexible on dates and times for the family session so please get in touch to have a chat.
Please be aware there is a small risk of bee stings during the session. If you have an allergy to bee stings this experience is not suitable.
What's included in the price?
Course fee includes tuition and refreshments as well as bee suits and gloves, however, you will need to bring wellies (recommended) or sturdy shoes and socks you can tuck the bee suit into.
