About the Course
Join Alix to learn how to carve and print your own linocut edition; and what's all this about using a spoon???
Held at a wonderful venue just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon this is a single colour linocut workshop. The day will run from 9.30am - 4.30pm (approx).
You will create a hand-printed edition of either prints or greeting cards and learn techniques to take away to be able carry on your printing adventures at home; including learning the magic of printing with a spoon! All techniques can be easily used at home - no need for a printing press or expensive equipment.
We will explore using linocut tools before embarking on creating designs to be printed.
This course is suitable for beginners or those with previous linocut experience - even if that was a lesson at school!
The day costs £70 and includes a delicious light lunch and afternoon coffee and cake. It includes tuition as well as all materials and equipment you will need on the day.
You can book this course on my website - link can be found above; please go to the 'buy' page.
Places per session are limited to 6.

Fabulous day. A relaxed and fun workshop. Well paced with just the right amount of attention. Everything supplied on the day. I especially liked that Alix supplied a variety of carving tools to try. Nice small group allowing time for individual questions and answers while letting the group be creative and gently directing us to out very own masterpieces!
Great location with friendly and helpful staff.
Really enjoyed the experience and would do again without hesitation.
Liz Gardner - - #28510
Response from Alix Almond Art:Hi Liz, thank you for your review and I am so pleased that you enjoyed it - your lotus flower was great! You were a lovely group to work with. Looking forward to seeing your next prints ;-) Alix x
I'd come across the concept of 'lino printing' when a couple of our nieces had done it in school art lessons. 'Lino' to me equated to 'floor covering', so to make art out of it was an intriguing idea...
Having come across Alix at one of her exhibitions, she gave the impression that she would be a good person to introduce someone to this art-form. And I was not disappointed. She was clear in her instructions, and yet flexible to work with each of us, whatever our level of natural or acquired ability...
All of the equipment was provided, and the day was a great combination of relaxation and concentration!
The group size was just right, so that each of us was able to feel supported without being watched!
It was also really helpful that she pointed us in the right direction if we would like to pursue things further, with info on equipment supplies and suppliers, and good books on the subject.
And the location (Bonds) was a fascinating setting (with good food and drinks); a perfect location for a little browsing to allow those arm and upper body muscles to relax!
Pete Pawson - - #28479

I loved your sheep card! It was all in the ladder ;-) Thank you again, and lovely to see you again. :-) alix
An excellent day.
I learnt so much and thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. The venue is great, relaxed and with good food.
Alix is extremely knowledgeable, easy to work with and very relaxed in her approach.
With the information Alix provided for us all to take away and the skills I learnt on the day, I have the confidence to continue exploring the craft in my own time at home.
Thank you Alix :-)

Spent a lovely day on this course with Alix last week and came home with a quality piece of work which has inspired me to do more at home. Nice venue, great company with like minded people in a lovely relaxed and happy atmosphere.
Adrienne - - #25184
Response from Alix Almond Art:Hello Adrienne, I am so happy that you are inspired to do more at home! That's what I hope everyone comes away with - the printmaking bug! I am really pleased you enjoyed your day, it is a lovely venue, and your squirrel card looked great. Thank you for your kind words. Alix.
I thoroughly enjoyed my day at Bonds doing linocut printing with Alix. She’s very easy to talk to and fun. And she is a very supportive and interesting teacher. I found the process really exciting, and although I worried that I was a bit slow Alix assured me it would all be fine and it was! The people in the group were all lovely and we just chatted away while we worked and had a nice lunch. The actual printing was thrilling. My design just suddenly came to life before my eyes and it was just so satisfying doing a run of prints. All the other designs were beautiful in their own unique way. A lovely day!
Jacquine Lefebvre - - #25142
Response from Alix Almond Art:Hi Jacquine, thank you so much for your lovely review and kind words. I am so pleased you enjoyed your day and you should be really proud of your starling print; there is something magic about making your first prints (to be honest it never goes away and is always exciting!). Really looking forward to seeing what you create in the future. Thank you again, Alix.
What a highly enjoyable day! I think I might have found yet another craft I want to pursue. This workshop was an excellent introduction to the art of Linocut printing. Alix is an excellent and highly knowledgeable tutor and she gives you space to have a go but is on hand to help out if things start going awry.
It was fantastic to have not just one, but six finished artworks to come away with.
I'm definitely going to pursue Linocut printing further - I'm already on the internet looking at equipment!
A thoroughly enjoyable workshop, in a relaxed, creative atmosphere - thank you Alix.
Susan Resuggan - - #24654
Response from Alix Almond Art:Hi Susan, thank you so much for your kind words. I am so pleased you enjoyed if and that you're already looking at equipment and have been bitten by the printmaking bug - I did warn you it was addictive! It was such a lovely workshop, and you should be really proud of your print too. And you are right, it is such a great venue! Thank you again, Alix.
My second trip to Bonds for a Linocut day with Alix was just as much fun and success as my first!
What could be better on a rubbish wet August day than be tucked up with like minded 'crafty' folk in the arm and dry enjoying their company, a laugh, good food (Bonds do wonderful catering) and excellent teaching. Alix is really good at urging you on to do bigger and better. Endlessly patient. I feel very inspired after a day with her!
Suzanne - - #24034
Response from Alix Almond Art:Thank you Suzanne, it was great to be in the warm and dry printing on such a miserable (weather) day with you both - so much fun! I agree, it is such a good venue and I am so pleased you are happy with your print, and so you should be, it is great! Thank you again for your kind words. Alix
I had traumatic memories of Lino cutting at school but I have been totally converted by this excellent workshop. Alix was very informative and everyone was able to work at their own speed in a very relaxed atmosphere. I have already put my new found skills to use and look forward to doing another course with Alix soon

Response from Alix Almond Art:Thank you Terry - I am so pleased that it has helped you catch the printmaking bug! I look forward to seeing your future creations - especially if they are equally as good as your rhino print! Alix.
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. It was a delight to spend the day with like minded people, in lovely surroundings, doing something creative. I think it is worth saying that this course is suitable for everyone, you do not need any artistic ability, just a little imagination and the results are stunning. Alix's aim is not just to give you an entertaining day but also to give you sufficient knowledge of the methods and materials such that you would be confident to continue grow your skills in this medium.
Thank you Alix

Thoroughly enjoyed the course. Suitable for beginners. Alix was knowledgeable, personable, attentive and most importantly patient. She took us through the process, step by step and was always available for guidance. I came away with a work of art which I immediately hung on the wall. I was so proud of what I achieved. Would definitely recommend the course.
Clare - - #21209
Response from Alix Almond Art:Thank you Clare - it was so lovely to hear how quickly you framed your prints too! I am really pleased you enjoyed it, and that you are (rightly so!) proud of the artwork you made. It was great to meet you, Alix.
What a fantastic workshop learning all about linocut. Alix was an engaging teacher - generous with her time and knowledge.
We learnt about the different types of materials, inks and equipment before cutting our own designs.
We each produced 6 finished prints that we were thrilled with. I would recommend this course to complete beginners like myself or to folk with previous linocut experience.
Thank you again Alix (and JC!)
Selina - - #21198
