Learn how to use your lace carriage in 3 hours. This course is aimed at machine knitters with some experience & is designed as a more in-depth course using this great devise. You have the option to use & design on DesignaKnit 8/9 as well as incorporating other techniques. Learn with Claire Newberry. Claire teaches at the world renowned Nottingham Trent university on their BA Hons Fashion Knitwear Design Course & also at DeMontfort University on their BA Hons Textile Design Course. Claire is also a knitwear designer to the industry & sells knitwear design concepts to fashion houses around the world. She's been lecturing & designing for over 30 yrs. If you have ever wanted to knit & design beautiful lace designs on either Brother, Silver Reed or Knitmaster knitting machines, then this is the course for you. The lesson is private & one to one so you learn exactly what you want to know. You can work at your own pace & ask as many questions as you like during the session. The lesson is ideal for machine knitters who already have a basic knowledge of domestic knitting machines. Please view our 1 hour bite size courses or 3 hr courses which will give you a grounding of the basic techniques of the knitting machine if you need more help before you embark on to this technique. You will have the option to view designs from the collection of swatches for demonstration & inspirational purposes. What you will learn from the lesson: How to use the lace carriage effectively. How to knit lace with stripes & other techniques. How to knit fashioned & simple lace (if learning to use your brother). Gain confidence using the lace carriage when planning & knitting your own garments. Access to DesignaKnit 8/9 CAD system Prior to the lesson contact will be made with you to ascertain which machine you will be using for the lesson. An appropriate lesson plan can then be made for the session. You can bring your own machine or use one in the studio including Brother, Knitmaster & Silver Reed lace carriages.

You will need your own knitting machine with lace carriage. You will need a selection of lace pattern cards & clips if using a punch card machine. Yarn suitable for knitting lace. Note book & pen are optional.
