Learn To Spin Yarn Weekend (or midweek) - Beginners Course
Description
Learn to spin yarn weekend (or midweek). Two full days and an evening, learning handspinning, in a peaceful weaving workshop on a small holding in the beautiful Welsh hills. Learn the whole process from sheep to yarn! Arrive to a cosy workshop, beginning with an evening session to get started, and following with two full days of wool spinning fun. During this course you can learn how to skirt a fleece, hand card wool, draft fibers, spin on a drop spindle, spin on a spinning wheel, ply your yarn, make a skein, set the twist in your yarn. The wool is provided for you, and your own wooden drop spindle to take home, and there is a spinning wheel here for you to work on during the course. (And we have a shop with spinning wheels and looms for sale if you would like your own Ashford wheel to take home with you and continue your handspinning.) If you aren't interested in preparing raw fleeces, I can provide you with clean, processed wools to spin with instead, and more time practicing the spinning process. If you would like to, you are welcome to meet the sheep during your visit. We have a flock of Shetland sheep, and Black Welsh Mountain, who live with us on the smallholding. Lunch break is between 12.30pm - 1.30pm Please bring along packed lunches. The workshop may have others attending, or might be just yourself. If you would prefer a one to one session please message me via the 'message the tutor' button. If you are travelling to get here, there is a farm cottage and a cabin on site that may be available for you to book.
