The pattern:
Easy to make, with no fiddly bits, the 'Lotta' dress pattern by Tilly and the Buttons is a perfect dressmaking project for beginners. It has a blousey bodice and flared skirt, cinched in with a narrow elasticated waistline. Choose between knee-length or midi-length skirt, with grown-on short sleeves or bracelet-length drop shoulder sleeves, with optional deep patch pockets. This dress is made with stretchy jersey fabric for the ultimate comfy fit.
Sizing:
The pattern comes in hip size 84-130cm.
Sewing Level:
This course is aimed at beginner sewists. Students should be familiar with a sewing machine and be able to sew in a straight line!
We limit the classes to a maximum of 5 students to ensure plenty of time for Izzy to spend with each person. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee that the dress will be completely finished during the workshop (there may be elements like hemming the sleeve to finish at home), but most people do finish within the allocated time.
What you will learn:
This workshop will take you through the process of dressmaking from beginning to end. This is an intense day, but a lot of fun. Here’s what we’ll teach you:
· How to measure your body correctly.
· How to decipher a sewing pattern.
· How to choose a pattern size to cut and how to grade between sizes.
· Cutting out of fabric and transferring pattern markings.
· The basics of sewing with stretchy jersey fabric.
· Inserting elastic waistband.
· Under stitching.
· Hemming.
· How to finish a seam with an overlocker.
What to bring:
You just need to bring the following:
· 3m of your choice of stretchy jersey fabric.
· Matching threads.
You do not need to bring your sewing machine. Sewing machines, overlockers, scissors, pins & tape measures are all provided for each student on the class. The price of the course also includes your own copy of the pattern for you to take home and sew up again at your leisure.
Workshop Details:
The workshop will run from 10am – 5pm with around 30 minutes for lunch.
Tea / coffee and biscuits will be provided on the day, but you will need to bring your own lunch.
Refunds are not available on this booking. Start dates may be amended on request.

I attended a sewing class with Izzosew studio and had an absolutely fabulous time. I learnt so much and Izzy was really helpful and clear. It was so rewarding to end up with a beautiful finished product that I can wear at the end of the day. Thank you so much Izzy it was an awesome day.
This course was the best thing ever, but have always been interested in taking up sewing but didn’t know how to start. Having attended the course (which was fantastic) I have bought myself a sewing machine and made a variety of items at home. Izzy taught the basics which allowed me to sew all sorts: PJs, tops and jumpers. I highly recommend you do this course, you won’t regret it!
