About the Course
One-day Japanese Kintsugi Workshop at Chatsworth House
Kintsugi is the magical Japanese art of repairing broken pots with gold. This workshop will involve learning some traditional and modern skills of repairing ceramics.
The session will start with using handmade marbled paper, 24k gold leaf and gold thread as we learn about this ancient traditional art. We will then work with a variety of ceramics which will be lovingly repaired using lacquer and gold metal powder. Each piece restored will be unique and beautiful.
This is a wonderful metaphor for life. The cracks and our experiences in life make us stronger, unique and beautiful.
My Kintsugi artwork is featured in the October issue of Uppercase Magazine.

We joined Pippa's Kintsugi class for a hen party activity last weekend and the whole group had a fantastic time. We were treated to hot drinks and homemade sweet treats on arrival before Pippa taught us the principles of Kintsugi, so that we could apply these to our own creations. She was a clear, patient teacher and was very supportive of the things we produced. To make the hen party even more special, Pippa's friend added some sparkle by beautifully painting our faces with intricate glittery patterns. Best of all, the bride-to-be was thrilled with the whole experience. Thank you so much Pippa!

Absolutely every aspect of the day was wonderful. The course surpassed my expectations in every way. As someone who is not at all artistic, Pippa's teaching style and meticulous attention to detail in the preparation of resources ensured that I felt really delighted with the art work I produced. The pace of the day was just right and the amazing cakes provided as part of the experience were above and beyond what I think any of us expected. I have come home feeling thoroughly uplifted and inspired. Thank you!

Pippa's Kintsugi course was very interesting and informative about this ancient craft. The materials provided were plentiful. Pippa's enthusiasm and passion for the art was infectious and she was so helpful in allowing us to get the most out of the session. Follow up by email on access to materials to continue at home was very welcome, The delicious home baked cakes made by Pippa for break time were an added bonus. Thank you.

Response from Pippa Pixley:Hi Jan,
A superb course with such a simple yet profound philosophy of mending something broken in a beautiful delicate way. I loved that we had the opportunity to continue the theme in different ways - pottery, paper, thread... Pippa is so enthusiastic and a great teacher.
Thoughtful extras like envelopes for cards, the little sewing kit, a bag, tissue paper...
Would love to do a follow on course

Response from Pippa Pixley:Hi Kathryn,
I have to say,the course was excellent. Lovely teacher, felt so comfortable being in the class ,and learning the art of Kintsugi . Knowing that no matter what happens in our life, where we may feel broken and hurt that we can learn so much from our trials and can even benefit from them. The gold that we seek in the pottery together is the golden nuggets we gain from our trials. Thank you so much Pippa, you were amazing.!!!

Response from Pippa Pixley:Hi Kaydon,
I wasn't blessed with being good at art but that didn't matter at all. Pippa is such a fabulous artist herself and a great teacher too. She enabled me to make something beautiful and learn about an age old art. The venue was stunning and the workshop a real joy. Can't wait for the next one.

Had a great time on this course. With zero experience of arts and craft techniques, I was helped by easy to follow instructions, well prepared materials, a friendly fun filled atmosphere and a fabulous venue. Will definitely sign up for Pippa’s courses.
