About the Course

So you’ve watched the Sewing Bee, or received a sewing machine as a gift and would like to start sewing. Well this is the perfect place to start!

Over 6 weekly workshop sessions we will show you how to use a commercial pattern to make your own clothes. You will make two garments; a simple skirt with a waistband and pockets and a slip-over top which can be lengthened into a tunic.

We will cover lots of tips and sewing technique including:
How to understand a commercial dressmaking pattern
How to sew accurate seams and different seam finishes
How to sew binding
How to sew a hem
How to insert a zip
How to sew pockets

This is an excellent course to start you off in the right way and give you the confidence to try things at home on your own machines.

"Rachel was very laid back and made us all very comfortable right from the start. I now feel confident to have a go at making my own clothes having learnt lots of techniques. Thank you so much!"
