Free-machine embroidery has been described by Kirsty Allsopp as ‘the crack cocaine of the crafting world!’ and we have to agree – it is very addictive!
Sarah’s workshop will introduce you to this fascinating art form – it can be described as drawing with your sewing machine.
You will learn how to set up a sewing machine ready for free-machine embroidery and can have fun practising doodling and ‘writing’ onto fabric. Once you have mastered the basics, you will design and create your own framed textile picture using free-machine embroidery & appliqué techniques.
There will be a selection of fabrics available for you to use in your appliqué design, but you are very welcome to bring your own fabric if you prefer.
At the end of the workshop you will be able to set up a sewing machine for free-machine embroidery and have the knowledge to create your own textile art at home.
Information regarding suitable fabrics and threads etc and where to buy them will also be given to you.

This was my second workshop. Sarah was very patient and guided me through the process of catching the thread from under the fabric. Again I came away with a lovely piece of textile art in a frame. It is nice to decide on your own design and Sarah guides you through how to put it together step by step. The free machinery embroidery is a great course for beginners and experts.

Hi JayneExcellent course ran by an extremely friendly and competent tutor.
Sarah was very patient and gave good guidance to everyone in the group who needed it.
The experience and enthusiasm she has for her art showed and appeared to rub off on us all in the group.
We all came away with something we were proud of and with the confidence to try it at home.
Thank you for a very relaxing 'me time'.

Hi SarahAn enjoyable and informative course. I was very impressed and thought it really good value for money. I came away with a framed piece of textile art. I had never attempted free motion machinery embroidery before but Sarah took us through the process with ease. I am looking forward to trying it at home with the pack I purchased.
