Description

A lovely hand thrown and hand decorated plate of studio white earthenware clay, dried and hand decorated with underglazes and slip and a variety of chickens. It is then fired for the first time in a “biscuit firing” and the clay changes forever to ceramics through the heat of the kiln at 1100 degrees Celsius. The plate is then glazed with a transparent glaze and fired again in the “glaze firing” to emerge as this lovely plate for breakfast, lunch or dinner. A great way to use in in your kitchen for delicious food, as decoration, to enjoy and admire it. As each product is individually hand thrown on the potter’s wheel and therefore unique, slight variables in size and colour are possible, but this is kept to a minimum. Measurements: width 21cm, height 3cm. All ceramics have a stamp "Handcrafted in Wales" and Siramik's logo stamp on the bottom of the item. If you require bigger plates, these can be made to order. If the item is not in stock, I will make it for you. Delivery time in that case, because of the process of creating handmade ceramics items from start, will be around 4 to 5 weeks from the date of the order.

Having been given a piece of clay when I was 6 years old, I knew what I wanted to do. My dad thought I needed a "proper job" and I became a secretary. Soon I wanted to go back to college and study for my degree. A local pottery offered me a job as a thrower and after several years employed I was able to and given the opportunity to open my own studio. Teaching and sharing my knowledge about clay and all its workings on the potter's wheel and hand building are now paramount to Siramik.
