Coiled Rope Workshop in Lechlade - Gloucestershire/Wiltshire/Oxfordshire Border
Description
Join us for a fun day in the Craft Barn for this beginner-friendly coiled rope workshop. The day will involve an introduction into this versatile material, learning how the effect of different stitches has on the shaping of your creations and how to add colour. You will be working on your own sewing machine with a heavy-duty (jeans) machine needle – your own machine is best as it is familiar to you and will also be set up for you to continue this addictive technique at home. We will start with a simple coaster and then move on to explore placemats. They can be kept simple or enhanced with coloured threads and wrapping, to produce unique designs and colour variations. Once this skill has been mastered, the choice is yours to explore. You can produce a set of coasters or placemats, or move on to produce a small bowl. Everything you produce is yours to take home, along with the knowledge to make more. PLEASE BRING: lunch, sewing machine (with instruction manual), heavy-duty (jeans) sewing machine needles (bring spares just in case!) and basic sewing kit (scissors, pins, needles, tape measure, threads, bobbins, etc). Don't worry if you forget your sewing kit, we will have some available to use. PLEASE NOTE: attendees MUST have a working knowledge of their sewing machine, we cannot be responsible for how it works or for repairs.

Crafting in the Cotswolds – what’s not to love? Lechlade Craft Barn offers craft workshops in the pretty Cotswolds market town of Lechlade on Thames. The Craft Barn is an attractive old stone barn at Karen's home and is the perfect setting to discover and develop your crafting skills. Owner Karen has a long-held passion for crafting, with backgrounds in retail and event management. Along with her workshops, she is joined by a talented team of guest tutors who offer a wide range of craft workshops. The barn is accessed via external stone steps with handrails on either side and unfortunately may not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Some workshops are delivered nearby in the bright and spacious Memorial Hall complex and other local venues. In addition to published workshops, we also offer bespoke Crafty Parties for Hens, groups of friends and family, special occasions, or any excuse to have a crafty day.
