Anjana Cawdell is a watercolour artist based in Chilwell, Nottingham.
She has been painting in watercolour for nearly 10 years and her nature inspired paintings have found new homes not only in the UK but also internationally.
A member of the Nottingham Society of Artists, Anjana believes watercolour is a fascinating medium and loves to share how exciting painting in watercolour can be.
This workshop has been developed to provide a quiet day of creativity and gentle tuition and this class is specifically tailored to suit a range of different abilities with beginners being very welcome.
Watercolour painting is a fabulous medium to work with and can be approached in many different ways.
This workshop will begin with a brief introduction to different materials such as watercolour paper, paints and brushes. This will be followed by some warm up exercises addressing consistency of paint, use of water, brush control and creating textural effects.
Elements of a good composition will be discussed with the help of photographic references.
After a break for some lunch the afternoon session will start with a painting demonstration from Anjana, painting a scene from a photo reference with particular detail to techniques for painting bright and colourful birds.
Following this all participants will attempt to recreate their own piece.
If you have any suitable photo references please feel free to bring them with you on the day.
