Description

Become part of the ‘indie’ crowd.

On this online course delivered via Zoom, you will develop the skills needed to self-publish a novel or short story.

It provides a realistic A-Z guide through the self-publishing process, delivered by an experienced writer who’s established in this exciting field.

Today, the line between published and self-published is blurred.

Once the poor relation to the publishing house, self-publishing has become big business.

In fact, publishers are trawling the world of indie-writers to find their next big talent.

On this course, you’ll explore how to be a fully-realised indie-writer and how to avoid the pitfalls.

You’ll examine case studies, work through practical exercises and learn the process step-by-step.

On this course, you will:

- learn how to know when your story is actually ready
- consider the importance of having a team: how to find editors, proof-readers and beta readers
- understand genre, and be confident in knowing where your book fits in the marketplace
- explore the importance of cover design and how to find the right designer - the dos and don’ts
- learn how to use Amazon & Kindle to create successful ebooks and print books
- start a marketing plan for your book
- begin to love social media, and learn which are the best websites to approach
- address how to get those all-important independent reviews
- balance the creative process with an eye on the business.

What will you gain?

By the end of the course, you’ll have gained the knowledge needed to launch your first self-publishing venture.

You’ll also have a supportive network of fellow writers to potentially work with, and have access to a variety of online resources dedicated to self-publishing.

In addition to these online sessions, there'll also be an online after-care session with your tutor and the group to discuss any technical questions you have.
