I had all but given up on my dreams of becoming a writer, but doing this course inspired me to pick up a pen (well, keyboard) and start trying again. Deana is a skilled and experienced teacher, who offers a positive and comfortable environment for you to explore your creative ideas. Beforehand, I thought that one-to-one zoom sessions might be awkward, but it was relaxed and fun. As with any creative writing course, you will get out what you put in, and there is enough structure and practical guidance to help develop your work, but lots of practical opportunities to explore your own style. I would highly recommend this course for writers at any level of experience - I'm certainly glad I did it.
Response from Deana Luchia:Bonnie, thank you! I'm so happy you enjoyed the course.
I have been doing Deana's courses for more than two years now on an ongoing basis. She is talented, funny and gives great feedback, both constructive and useful. My writing has developed enormously by doing her classes. Although the classes are only an hour long, absolutely no time is wasted and every class, no matter what the topic, is really useful and enjoyable. I have done longer courses (2.5 hours per class) through other organisations and I must say that Deana's have remained my favourite. Every class is different, covering a variety of aspects of writing and how to write different genres and even if one of the classes isn't where your interests lie, it doesn't matter because you pick up valuable tips and learn how to apply different tools which can be applied across any type of writing. The way the classes are structured means that you don't have to attend every week which is really flexible. I would highly recommend Deana's classes. Overall, the classes are fun, great value for money, professional and consistently great and would suit people of all levels.
Response from Deana Luchia:Claire, thank you so much. I'm so happy you're still enjoying the course. I always like reading your homework. You create really arresting characters and interesting stories.
Deana leads a really great course. I've always been a bit reluctant to do these kinds of courses in the past as I've been worried that I would find them a bit intimidating and dry. But Deana's classes are engaging and fun. She has loads of anecdotes and it was a genuine pleasure to be in her company. Highly recommended!
Response from Deana Luchia:Thank you, Abdul! Really glad you enjoyed the course. Hope you're still writing. You had some great ideas.
Deana prepares meticulously.
Response from Deana Luchia:Thank you, Chris. So happy you found the course inspiring.
I’ve been contemplating doing a course like this for ages and so glad I finally got around to it. Deana, you are very inspiring and have already helped me to get a lot of my ideas into order. I’m feeling very excited to learn more from you. Thanks so much!
Response from Deana Luchia:Thank you! I’m really happy you’re enjoying the course.
I have attended the first of 6 sessions with Deana and I am completely hooked. I was nervous about how well the zoom would work, nervous about telling someone my writing aspirations, nervous of writing and reading out-loud and receiving feedback and I really didn't need to be. Deana is super friendly and puts you at ease, but still completely professional.
I found that I trusted her judgement straight away, I learnt things about my own writing style within half an hour and somehow I already feel more confident. I have yearned to write a novel for years and right now, I genuinely think that could be possible. If you are at all curious, take that leap, you won't regret it.
Response from Deana Luchia:Thank you so much for your lovely review. So happy you like the course. I hope by the end of it you feel equipped to tackle a novel. I’m sure you can do it.
I attended one of Deana's first courses and with some simple guidance, and practice, can now write with confidence and flair (Deana's words!). I got a lot more out of the course than I ever expected to and have since sent Deana not only friends and family members, but also colleagues from my employers Marketing & Communications Dept : our articles and press releases are now a lot more interesting to read. Thanks Deana.
Response from Deana Luchia:Thank you, John. I'm very pleased you enjoyed the course and got so much out of it. I hope you're carrying on with your writing.
I was really impressed with my first session and am definitely looking forward to the next.
Deana was incredibly friendly and supportive and her advice was invaluable. She gave me lots to think about, and ideas to help me move my writing on to the next step. In fact as soon as the session finished I couldn’t stop, and she certainly helped inspire me and help me over my feeling of writer’s block.
Deana seems incredibly experienced and was thoroughly professional and helpful at all times. Communication has been excellent!
I would recommend these sessions to any curious writers, of any experience, without reservation.
Response from Deana Luchia:Thank you! I’m so happy you enjoyed the first session.
The course was easy for me as a beginner and I thought it was great. Deana led a really engaging and interactive few hours and is very knowledgable in her field. Looking forward to the next!
