Course Start Dates
About the Course
Spend a fun day in a friendly environment mastering the art of drawing animals in pastels. Discover types of paper perfectly suited for animal pastel portraits and be liberated from the need to use fixatives. See how you can transfer an image quickly to paper and use a range of pastels to create your animal portrait.
I will have a selection of reference images for you to work from so that you can choose what you'd like to draw. You can also bring your own image if you have something specific you would like to tackle.
There will be a maximum of 10 students.
The venue is a lovely schoolroom situated on a working farm which has a large car park and easy access with disabled toilet provision.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Paper is provided but you need to bring your own pastels, a board to tape your paper to, masking tape, a hard pencil, and a flannel to clean your hands on.
Tea/coffee/squash is provided, along with cake and biscuits. You will need to bring your own packed lunch.
My daughters bought me the voucher for my birthday. I attended with my friend and thoroughly enjoyed the day which was in a lovely peaceful setting. We learnt the different techniques to make our animal portraits and I was very pleased with the results. I was amazed how you can make the eyes so lifelike. Thank you.

Response from Black Cat Art:I'm so pleased that you both enjoyed the day and went home with a finished drawing. You achieved a lot in what felt like a short time. Drawing the eyes can be such fun as they make so much difference to the drawing. I hope you have been inspired to do more pastel drawing in the future.
My friend bought this art day for us both. We attended on Saturday and it was great, I had never used pastels before so was very much a beginner. With gentle instructions we progressed through the day and I was very pleased with my efforts. Some of the other clients had some very impressive work.
I would do this class again

Response from Black Cat Art:Thank you so much for such a lovely review! I am so glad you enjoyed the day. I will have more workshop days in late spring and during the Bucks Open Studios exhibition mid June if you fancy doing another. :-)
