About the Course

Covid19 update: offering over 100+ courses in Cumbria & the Lakes, we hope to resume all 'in person' courses in late July 2020. During lock down, we've upgraded a listed barn into a beautiful spacious workshop studio, enabling courses to take place with 2m distancing, hand washing and two staircases. It's possible usual catered lunches may not be included for summer courses, depending on circumstances at the time.

Landscapes in ink and bleach:
Experiment with various types of ink and a gentle bleach solutions for interesting textures and effects. “Accidental’ reactions between both mediums create dramatic landscape and sky effects, or a more controlled approach can be taken to keep the work ‘tight’. The stunning scenery of the Lake District will be our inspiration for the day.

Patsy will bring all the equipment you will need but if you have fountain pen ink (Quink), dip pens, paint brushes (Ones that you won’t mind dipping into bleach), drawing pens or your own watercolour paper, this might be useful. You may also wish to bring any moody or dramatic landscape pictures to use as inspiration, but Patsy will also bring these. There may be a small charge for inks and paper provided by Patsy.

Patsy Derry has taught art in schools for over 20 years and to various age groups since. Living now, in the inspirational beauty of the English Lake District, has allowed her to develop her portfolio of painting techniques s and photographs. She likes to work in a variety of mediums, watercolour, pastel, acrylic, ink and bleach, and pencil, developing a distinctive style in each. Chair of Ambleside and District Art Society,
