The sessions are tailored to every individual's needs. With beginners, I usually start with a few set projects to teach the various techniques. You will learn slabbing, coiling and pinching and make items such as a poppy, hanging ornaments, an owl, a tea-light holder, a snowman, a vase etc.

The course will run on Wednesdays from 6 - 9pm. This is a Figurative clay modelling Evening Class where students will be supported by experienced sculptor Alan Beattie Herriot to produce a model in clay on an armature. The course has an open format so students can decide what they want to make. Some outcomes have been, a portrait head, a standing, sitting or reclining figure or an animal.

Love cats? Join us for a day sculpting beautiful cats with Stella. Whether it's your own cat, a sleepy kitten or the moggy that visits your garden, this gentle introduction to working in clay, will give you all the skills to develop confidence in working in three dimensions. Using basic slab techniques you will be shown how to construct your sculpture, adding detail to your work to capture the character of the subject.
This two day workshop is an introduction to a method of working with clay to produce a portrait sculpture. Working from a live model, participants will be guided through the process of building a portrait, and have the option of the completed piece being fired at the end. No previous experience necessary. All materials and tools are provided.
An introduction to life sculpture, with tools and materials provided. Experienced sculptor Sophie Howard will guide participants through the process of making a scaled down sculpture of the live model in terracotta clay. This two day course will include modelling from observation, and full guidance will be provided.

You can choose from a variety of subjects and all are step by step so suitable for beginners and children who are 8 years and over when accompanied by an adult.
Your finished sculpture will be ready for collection or delivery 2/3 weeks after the course. Groups and private parties of six people or more can be arranged.
This course is perfect for beginners to learn a new craft and experienced individuals to further their pottery skills with expert tuition.
