Ages 10 - 18 Treat your child to an unforgettable summer experience where they can unleash their imagination and discover their talents! Join us for a transformative journey into the world of abstract sculpture at our Summer Holiday Sculpture Workshop, led by the talented tutor Lydia Smith. Lydia, renowned for her innovative teaching approach, has titled this workshop "The No Intentions Workshop." Under her guidance, students will be encouraged to enter a state of flow, relieving any pressure for perfection and allowing their creativity to flourish organically. Previous workshops led by Lydia have seen remarkable success and positive feedback. Students are often surprised by what they create when given the freedom to explore without constraints. Each participant will receive personalised 1-2-1 tuition from Lydia, who tailors their learning experience holistically, respecting their individual pace and style. The workshop aims to foster confidence in creativity and provide a safe space where judgment is replaced with self-expression through sculpture. At the end of the workshop, students can take their creations home, creating a tangible reminder of their journey of their artistic exploration. Day 1: Introduction and Drawing Morning: Meet and Great, Arrange Objects Afternoon: Sketching and Finallising Design Day 2: Creating Forms Morning: Creating Armiture, Abstraction rules explained Afternoon: Start sculpting Day 3: Form Exploration Morning: Continue working on Sculpture Afternoon: Continue working on Sculpture Day 4: Refining Shapes Morning: Continue working on Sculpture Afternoon: Continue working on Sculpture Day 5: Finishing Touches and Photography Morning: Paint Sculpture Afternoon: Paint Sculpture, Photograph, wrap up to take home. Parents, students and teacher celebration 4pm - 4.30pm Special Offer: This is available for group bookings (including parents) , taking priority in encouraging family participation in the creative process. first-come, first-served basis. Imporant Information: Each student should bring three small table top objects that mean something to them or table top objects. These will be used to inpsire their sculptures. Example’s : Hair brush, Favorite small Toy, Flower There will be a selection of objects availble to use at the workshop. To get the most out of the experience it is adviced the students bring there own objects. Additional Information: All sculpting, drawing, paintings materials will be provided. Participants will have the opportunity to take their sculptures home. The location, with the National Gallery on the doorstep, offers the perfect environment to nurture creativity, with other cultural places nearby to explore during breaks.

Lydia Smith is a contemporary sculptor living and working in London. Her studio is Based in the Ancient Vaults of the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square. Smith regularly works within the British film and TV industry. She has worked on blockbusters such as Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Doctor Strange, Gladiator 2, and many more. Smith is classically trained in figurative sculpture, Studying at the University of the Arts London and Private ateliers in Greece, Spain and France. Her work has transformed into a more abstract expression, but she adores and respects her figurative roots and enjoys teaching the techniques.
