My second vist to Steve's White Tiger Knives forge was just as brilliant as my first, if not more. Steves passion about knife making and skill shined through effortlessly without faltering throughout the long day in the shop. I tipped up for the one day course with my own design, a wood carving knife based on a Scandinavian puukko design. Not Steve's prefered choice of knife but with complete professionalism, enthusiasm and buckets full of banter he assisted me and coached me in completing my design. The end result being a working functional wood carving knife that I absolutely love. Thank you steve!

Absolutely brilliant day!
This was my first experience of Bladesmithing but definitely won't be my last (due to the experience I had).
Matthew Egginton - - #23845
Response from White Tiger Knives:Hi Matthew
Steve was an excellent teacher, explained why we were doing what we were doing, and answered all questions that we had. This was not my first bladesmithing experience day, however, Steve gave us an experience far superior to those previous.
We very much enjoyed our day with Steve and will booking with him again.
I cannot recommend him enough.

Response from White Tiger Knives:Hi Scott
A great day spent with Steve getting a very small insight into the skills needed to be a bladesmith. From choosing the style of knife, to forging, grinding and the final wrapping of the handle it was a fully hands on course. Steve gave us plenty of instruction and then let us loose only stepping in to help if issues/problems arose. When my blade didn't want to play at times Steve's perseverance and skills ensured I left with a blade I was totally pleased with. Relaxed yet professional atmosphere.
Steve has a vast knowledge of the subject and an easy teaching manner I would happily recommend this course.

Response from White Tiger Knives:Hi Daniel
I have just done the one day course. I cannot recommend highly enough. Steve is a natural and patient teacher, allowing you to step outside your comfort zone during the process. For me teaching is all about drawing out something which is already inside; this kind of parallels the way we drew out knives out of the lumps of metal that they began as. He keeps everything flowing, has loads of interesting stories, and a real depth of knowledge in his craft.
Some of the technical pieces he has around the workshop in various stages of completion are super geeky (in the best possible way!). The whole process was immensely satisfying, watching the knife come to life through each of the steps is brilliant.
If you enjoy working with your hands, if you would like a knife that feels like a part of you - that you forged yourself - then look no further. Sometimes five stars are not enough....

Response from White Tiger Knives:Justin you and Dan worked your socks off, in lets be honest pretty warm conditions on your blade smithing day. You both created beautiful knives and I am really pleased that you enjoyed your day so much, thank you.
My son and I spent the day with Steve and throughly enjoyed every minute. Steve is a great teacher who loves his craft and that comes through in everything he does. We made two beautiful knives and learnt a lot doing so. I throughly recommend his courses to anyone interested in knife making. Thanks so much Steve!!
Stuart - - #22994
Response from White Tiger Knives:Thank you for your kind words Stuart it was a pleasure to have you and Wil in the shop for a day. Great students, great man blades and a great day.
Cannot rate this course highly enough.
Two professional chefs, spent two fantastic days with Steve, making two beautiful knives.
Steve's endless passion, skill and patience made the time so enjoyable and the knives we made are truly unique.
If you are considering this course, don't hesitate, you won't regret it.
Many thanks Steve and the chances are high that I will see you again soon for another knife adventure!

I couldn't rate my day's blacksmithing with Steve highly enough. The day was incredibly satisfying, and I felt like I really got some 1:1 tuition. The knife I made is awesome and it has really left me keen for more forging. Thanks again to Steve, I would recommend the day to any budding blacksmith/someone who just wants to spend a day getting their hands dirty.

I've just done a two day chef knife making course with Steve, and from start to finish the experience was great, l cannot recommend enough!
Steve was beyond helpful and passionate about making sure you get the best blade possible. It is wickedly sharp and a thing of beauty. I would like to thank him for making it a brilliant experience. I definitely have been bitten by the bug and will be booking another course with him in the future.

I took my son on Stephen's 1 day bladesmithing course. I was slightly concerned that being 13 he wouldn't be able to handle the tools properly, but this was not a problem. Stephen shared his expertise and with patience and passion, guided Fred through the process of transforming a nondescript piece of steel into a beautiful and razor sharp knife over the course of the day in his den-like workshop. Stephen is generous with his time and humour, super knowledgeable and has an infectious passion for the craft and next level knife-making skills. I'll book again for sure.

I met Steve a while ago at a different forge and had been waiting to go down and learn some more about making chef's knives from a master. Steve is an artist in iron and you could live with him for a year and not run out of things to learn about bladesmithing.
In two days I ruined his course plans, asked him to do all sorts of things he hadn't expected, forced him to use my own unsuitable materials, tried a technique neither of us had used before and generally was a pain in the backside. But Steve took it all in his stride, adapted his lessons, helped me work out how to get the best result with what we had and kept a smile on his face the whole time.
An excellent teacher, a passionate bladesmith and won't just force you down a cookie cutter approach to knife making but give you the space to make your own decisions and own your mistakes and learn from them. I'll be down there to ruin his week again later this year, I have another crazy project in mind already.

Had the most rewarding 2 day course with Steve in his excellent and well equipped workshop. Turned a rusty hunk of metal into a beautiful and functional knife, I've got dozens of books on knife making but learned more in 2 days than I have in the past 3 years. Brilliant

Was an amazing day and Stephen was great. He made sure that the knife was turning out how I wanted and is a great tutor. Highly recommended him to any skill level.

From start to finish, two whole days producing my own bespoke chefs knife, the experience was awe inspiring. Very modern spacious workshop, contrasting old with new machinery, Steve is an artisan of blacksmithing, very knowledgeable who sets very high standards. I wholly recommend any course of his. Exceptional!

I took the two day forging a chefs knife course with Steve in his brilliant newly built workshop. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and walked away with a beautiful and functional tool that will be my forever go to knife in my kitchen. Steve is an incredible teacher and knows his craft. His passion about bladesmithing shows in everything he does and can be seen in his creations, including his pupils end products. As I said, I walked away with skills, knowledge and a top quality blade that will be in my kitchen for the rest of my life. Thank you very very much Steve!
Tom - - #20382
Response from White Tiger Knives:Thank you Tom for your kind words and for sending me the video of you using your knife in the kitchen, your man blade certainly makes the cut.
Best bladesmith course I've ever done, and a privilege to have individual tuition from award winning Master Bladesmith Steve Nowacki, new novices just starting their bladesmithing journey, or those with experience, will get a great deal from this course, not to mention walking away from the course with a fully functional forged and anvil crafted, hardened, tempered, buffed, razor sharpened blade with a quality handle made from first rate materials all crafted, shaped and polished by your own hands (with Steve's expert guidance every step of the way), your own personal knife that will last a lifetime.
Steve paid particular attention to the type of blade I wanted to craft, and prepared the perfect template to achieve my bespoke request, doesn’t get more unique then that :)
Workshop was very well laid out and spacious, and included every piece of kit and powertool a bladesmith could ever dream of, and then some ontop! I felt like I was a kid in a sweetshop :)
Steve was very welcoming and we had great fun over the 2 days of this highly recommended experience.
John Golds - - #19802
This course was fantastic. Having completed my one day taster the previous week and enjoying creating a small utility blade, I wanted to try this more ambitious 2 day course and make my own chef's knife. I showed my design to Steve and we set to work. Under his expert eye and having total confidence in everything he said, I hot forged and shaped the blade, then we heat treated and tempered the blade and ground the bevels. day 2 was spent finishing the blade and making and fitting the handle. It was hard work and full on but the passion and enthusiasm that comes from Steve just made it so enjoyable. I was totally blown away by the beautiful knife I made.
Thank you SO MUCH Steve!
Liz DE CHASTELAIN - - #19266
This course was great fun and I really learned a lot. Steve is a very good teacher and it was a privilege to be tutored by one of the best knife makers in the world. And what a fantastic workshop!
I am very very happy with the knife we made and as a beginner I was particularly satisfied with the sharp and beautiful knife I can be proud of. I have chosen some wood for the handle and will fit these to finish it.
Steve was very kind and patient and expertly explained and demonstrated every step of the process before allowing me to do it, and let's not forget the coffee, tea and biscuits and wonderful chats with a great sense of humour! I enjoyed it so much I've just booked another course with him. Can't wait to make my very own chef's knife. I cannot recommend Steve highly enough.
