Mark reviewed: 2 Day forged chef's knife course.

"First things first, huge thank you Steve for an amazing 2 days and an experience that I will remember for a long time. This course is brilliant from start to finish, with the end product something that is equally beautiful and practical. Being able to leave after the second day with this is incredibly rewarding. Steve, delighted it's a knife and not a chisel. To quote a certain TV show, 'it will cut'. Thanks again for your hospitality and sharing your wealth of knowledge, cannot recommend this course enough."

White Tiger Knives responded:

" Hi Mark Thank you for your kind words, it really is a pleasure to know how much you enjoyed your two days locked in the workshop with me. Your knife did look rather lovely dressed in that Australian Jarra wood handle. It will give you faithful service in the kitchen and yes it certainly did cut. Kind regards Steve"

"My partner bought this experience day for me as I have had a fascination with the art of knife making for a few years now (thanks to forged in fire) and this was such a fantastic day! Steve is an excelent teacher and explained the the art of knife making. He has such an extensive knowledge in the area, from the types of materials and techniques used, to refining the finished product in a way I could grasp. I highly recomend this course and Steve (The Legend!!) "

It looks like we will bump into each other a little further down the rabbit hole after today. Kind regards Steve"

Nick Clarke reviewed: 2 Day forged chef's knife course.

"I purchased this chef's knife making weekend course as a gift for my brother, and decided to come along too - which turned out to be a great decision. Steve is an excellent teacher with a wealth of knowledge, and a highly skilled craftsman. Spending a couple of days in his company, and using the often custom made equipment in his workshop we were able to produce a couple of completely unique knives that look great as well as being practical, and I am sure will serve us well for many years to come. Thanks Steve!"

Malc reviewed: Bladesmithing experience day

"Excellent day's knife making! Steve was a perfect host and instructor. Very patient with my errors (like constantly missing the knife when hammering it on the anvil, or grinding it unevenly), which he then corrected for me! Happy to explain what we were doing and why. Took us through the process to time, and helped us produce wonderful looking knives at the end of it. Can't recommend this course enough, a really good day."

White Tiger Knives responded:

" Hi Malc I'm really glad that you enjoyed yourself so much, it was a blast and you did make a rather special knife. I know that it will serve you well whenever you use it. Kind regards Steve"

Cameron Lightfoot reviewed: 2 Day forged chef's knife course.

"Where to start really; the course was absolutely fantastic. From start to finish Steve was patient with my learning, enthusiastic about what I will be able to achieve and incredibly giving with his time and expertise. I have always enjoyed working with my hands and this was next level. The whole process from start to finish was great and seeing something both functional and aesthetically appealing come out at the end is a little mind blowing, as Steve says - “you wont leave here with something that just looks like a knife, it will be a knife”. Steve has really got something special going and I would throughly encourage anyone with an interest in blade smithing to book this course immediately, I can’t imagine you’d ever regret it. I will most certainly be back for another go."

White Tiger Knives responded:

" Hi Cameron Thank you very much for your kind words, I'm really happy that you enjoyed your two days in the shop with me so much. The knife that you created really is something a little special and will always be a talking point. Not only that I know that it will serve you well in the kitchen as well and like we discussed these tools really are functional pieces of art. I look forward to our next instalment in the shop and I'm getting my legal team to prepare a disclaimer just in case you decide to disappear down the knifemaking rabbit hole. Kind regards Steve"

Theo reviewed: Bladesmithing experience day

"This was an absolutely fantastic day for me. I never got to do much of the tough handcrafted sort of things at school and generally am rather a techy person with a techy job. I try to experience new things and was gifted this experience by my girlfriend and her famiy. Steve was great at taking you through the stages, guiding you and explaining as you went from a fresh cut piece of steel to something that looks great, cuts great and you can be proud to know you made it! Lots of knowledge, very welcoming, I could recommend this to anyone and i'm also thinking of booking the chef knife course with my girlfriend as I think she would love it too."

White Tiger Knives responded:

" Hi Theo Thank you very much for your review and I'm really glad that you enjoyed your day so much with me. Regardless of your skill set, with a little patience and a guiding hand you were more that up for the task in creating your own forged knife. It would be a pleasure to welcome you and your girlfriend into the shop at some point in the future on the two day Chef's knife course. Kind regards Steve"

Ben reviewed: 2 Day forged chef's knife course.

"Attended the 2 day chef's knife course, received as a gift, and had a thoroughly enjoyable time, would highly recommend. I have since been proudly sharing pictures with friends and family of my knife (emphasis on MY - there will be no knife exactly like mine and I hope to use it for years to come). I started the course with a good idea about what I wanted to achieve - a chef's knife with a patterned/black forged finish and am so, so pleased with how it turned out. I wasn't sure what wood would be available for the handle, but was surprised by the huge choice. I opted for a beautiful piece of Cocobolo (central American hardwood), shaped and sanded until it was just right. Steve is highly skilled, knowledgeable and incredibly passionate about knife making, guiding us through the hands-on process over the 2 days. Thanks again Steve! Cheers, Ben"

White Tiger Knives responded:

" Hi Ben I'm very pleased that you enjoyed your two days in the shop so much. I have to agree that the knife you made did look rather special especially with that Cocobolo handle and with the edge we gave her I'm sure will allow your knife to perform any task you require in the kitchen. Thank you for wanting to take a course with me and enjoy your new creation. Kind regards Steve"

Chris Meayers-Norkett reviewed: Bladesmithing experience day

"I had the absolutely pleasure of spending the day with Steve and making a knife under his expert tutoring. Steve has an encyclopaedic knowledge of bladesmithing and is a thoroughly good chap to boot. The day was both exhilarating and fun but also a rich grounding in the basics of forging a knife. I would heartily and without reservation recommend this course to anyone!"

White Tiger Knives responded:

" Hi Chris Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed your day so much. It was full on, but enjoyable and you made a cracking man blade. Remember I don't accept any responsibility if you've been bitten by the knife making bug. Kind regards Steve"

Chris Hurley reviewed: Bladesmithing experience day

"This was my second course with Steve, and he was right in what he said replying to a previous review... it's addictive. This time, Steve introduced me to a different method of blade-smithing and we designed and made a fabulous tanto style knife, including a hamon, which Steve hadn't tried before on a 1 day course. Although trying to get it all fitted into one day was extremely tight as this wasn't a typical one day project, Steve didn't let any of the pressure show and took the time to explain the techniques we were using and with his guidance, we ended up with a scarily sharp, beautiful unique design, with a gorgeous willow and cord wrapped handle that suited the style perfectly. By the end of the day, Steve and I were already plotting the next project for my next visit !"

White Tiger Knives responded:

" Hi Chris It was a fun packed and full on day I'm glad I didn't let the pressure show. I will need your address though to send you the bill from my psychiatrist. Until our next adventure in the shop remember, "you're only as sharp as your knife." Kind regards Steve"

Dafydd reviewed: 2 Day forged chef's knife course.

"2 day chef's knife course. Was given the option of three shapes : Chef's knife, Santoku (my choice) or Nakiri. Started from pre-cut blanks which made the actual forging quicker than expected (hour or so). Although Stephen did a few parts (quenching, handle fitting, final sharpening) all the creative choices were mine. Those included choosing shape, patterning, polished or not, wood for handle and shape of handle. I get he did the mentioned parts to give me the best result, although I would have liked to do the quench. 1st Day - forging knife shape, grinding, quenching 2nd Day - making the handle, sharpening Well enjoyed 2 days, very proud of my knife. (Also given a nice carrying pouch to take it home)"

White Tiger Knives responded:

" Hi Dafydd Thank you very much for your review. It shows basically how the two days unfold and some of the processes involved in the making of the chef's knife. As you stated I do undertake certain production processes during the day and that is only because of the time limitations we face on the course days. As I say on day one, our biggest enemy is time and I want every student to go home with the best possible knife they can make in the time available. You have given me some food for thought though regards the quenching process. ATB Steve"

Tom reviewed: 2 Day forged chef's knife course.

"Incredibly fun, insightful and detailed presentation. Steve is a career metal worker with true passion for the craft of bladesmithing. Be fussy, ask questions, or just chill and enjoy the ride. Either way, you'll end up with the knife of your dreams. Day 1 metal. Day 2 wood. In between go out for a beer, food and stay local, plenty of choice. Rugged beauty. Cheers mate. Tom & Graeme"

White Tiger Knives responded:

" Hi Tom Thank you for this great review. It's always hard to gauge how people view their day and what they're able to make while I'm demonstrating/helping them in the shop, but I think you put it rather succinctly. I'm very glad that you both enjoyed your two days with me so much. ATB Steve"
