Shoena Jones reviewed: One day silver jewellery making in Worcestershire.

"This was arranged as a 21st present for my granddaughter, Kate, and we had a fabulous day. Jonathan’s instructions led us gradually to being able to create memorable pieces of jewellery. Regular infusions of coffe and cake also helped and the setting finished off a great day. This will definitely go on my present list for other members of my family - that means I can also have a go at another piece."

Salt Way Silver responded:

"Thank you Shoena for your kind words Great to meet you and your granddaughter. Well done with the silver jewellery making and you are more than welcome back any time Jonathan"

Craig reviewed: One day silver jewellery making in Worcestershire.

"Had a great day, Jonathan was very welcoming. Marcelle and I both made pendants, I don’t think Marcelle has taken hers off since we got home. The day was so much fun and the time just flew by, it’s safe to say I have a new hobby and the shopping list for tools and equipment was made that evening. We will definitely be returning to make some rings next time. P.s. I don’t write many reviews, service / experience has to be either dreadful or fantastic, congratulations Jonathan you and boat have topped the fantastic list."

Salt Way Silver responded:

"Thank you Craig and Marcelle. I'm glad you enjoyed the day and I look forward to hearing more about your developing jewellery making skills. Jonathan"

"My daughter Hannah and I booked onto the course for Hannah’s birthday and had such a great day. Jonathan is friendly, welcoming and a very patient tutor. The boat is well equipped and comfortable- and Jonathan even moved it to a shadier spot in view of the recent hot spell. We had great fun working with the copper wire and trying out new techniques ready to start on our rings after lunch. We at both really pleased with what we achieved and inspired to try more. A great find and one we would both recommend"

Laura reviewed: One day silver jewellery making in Worcestershire.

"This course was one of the best I have been on (and I am racking up a fair few craft courses now!) Jonathan was a great teacher for the day, and I really can't fault it. By guiding us through the copper wire exercises we were able to confidently give the silver bangle making a go, which have turned out looking very professional. Friends and family have all been impressed when I have shown the final creation off. What I think adds to the fun of this course is the brilliant setting of the canal boat. You can be inspired by nature whilst trying to concentrate on being creative!!"

Ros Kelson reviewed: One day silver jewellery making in Worcestershire.

"I spent a marvellous few hours (it was a birthday treat) with my sister and niece making jewellery under the expert guidance of Jonathan. The location was perfect - peaceful, quirky, inspiring and fun (I want a narrow boat now!), and Jonathan was an excellent teacher - very good at explaining and showing us how to do things and very patient. (He also makes excellent coffee!). We started off making chains and charms with copper to get the feel of jewellery making and getting to understand the processes involved. After a break for coffee and cake we set about making silver bangles and it was great fun. We are all delighted with what we produced - it is very satisfying to make your own piece of jewellery. I would highly recommend this course."

Salt Way Silver responded:

"Dear Ros, many thanks for your kind words! I think we all had a good day. I was very impressed with your texturing method and hope to use it myself in the future - inspired by the footprints of the local wildlife? Good luck with your future jewellery making Jonathan"

Veronica Grindley reviewed: One day silver jewellery making in Worcestershire.

"My sister, my daughter and myself spent a wonderful day last Sunday on the silver jewellery boat (which is a great venue!). Jonathan was very patient and an excellent teacher. I really enjoyed learning how to make copper chains, links and charms before making a silver bangle (which I'm wearing as I type). We tried out several different skills and it was really interesting to understand the different processes that are gone through to get to the completed bangle. The boat was moored in a pretty spot with a walk through trees and a wildflower meadow to reach it. We sat on the bank to eat our picnic and watched other boats, cyclists and walkers go past through the day. At one point a family of swans came visiting (four very young cygnets) and the adults tapped on the window. I went away with a smile on my face and am very pleased with what I managed to produce. I would really recommend a day out on the silver jewellery boat. Many thanks Jonathan!"

Salt Way Silver responded:

"Dear Veronica, thank you for your very kind and thoughtful words! It was a great day and you may be pleased to hear the cygnets are still thriving and whizzing about. I'm very pleased you are enjoying the jewellery and hope you might go on to make some more. Great to meet you and your family. Jonathan"

Tracey Parsons reviewed: One day silver jewellery making in Worcestershire.

"I went with 2 friends on Saturday and to say we had a good time is an understatement , we had an amazing time. Jonathan started us working with copper wire , making chains and jump rings , which ended up for me being turned into a bracelet and key ring. Whilst having tea and cake we chose what we wanted to make , all of us choosing different things. This wasn't a problem for Jonathan and he helped us all, guiding us to our beautiful finished jewellery . A wonderful way to spend the day learning a new skill thank you Jonathan Tracey"

Salt Way Silver responded:

"Dear Tracey, Claude and Karen - it was a great day, I relished the challenge too! Hoping you are enjoying your jewellery and I wish you good luck in your future jewellery making. Many thanks for your very kind words Jonathan"

"My daughter and I had a lovely day on Saturday on the Silver Jewellery Boat. It is a cosy narrow boat moured on the canal in a lovely spot. Jonathan was a really good teacher and very encouraging as I have never handled tools of any kind before. We practised on copper to start with and then moved on to silver. We both produced a silver pendant which we were very pleased with. It was a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere with plenty of drinks and cake. I can thoroughly recommend the day. Thanks a lot. ."

"My sisters and I have just spent 2 brilliant days, as a complete beginners, aboard The Silver Jewellery Boat under Jonathan’s careful and encouraging tuition. Not only is Jonathan a great teacher but he is a perfect host, providing regular soft drinks, tea, coffe, cake and biscuits! We enjoyed lunch, sitting in the sunshine alongside the canal watching the wildlife and listening to the birds. Look forward to returning and introducing family and friends to this amazingly inspiring and relaxing experience! Thank you Jonathan!"

"So glad I heard about this course and could join my friend for a relaxed day of varied but well paced instruction from Jonathon into the basics of silversmithing techniques - from wire work to soldering and polishing. Would thoroughly recommend. So pleased with my silver pendant I am wearing as a reminder. Well equipped barge, moored in tranquil setting, but sensible footwear required to access after rain."

"It's hard to imagine a more beautiful and inspiring setting for this workshop aboard the silver jewellery boat! I have never attempted to make jewellery before but by the end of the day I had learnt how to make a gorgeous pair of silver earrings ... in addition to making chains and celtic swirls. One to one tuition and plenty of encouragement made this a great day ... highly recommended."

Yoke Lunn reviewed: One day silver jewellery making in Worcestershire.

"I booked with Jonathan as a refresher course, having done some silversmithing some years ago and lost confidence through lack of practice. I couldn't have wished for a better day! He was patient, good humoured, and encouraging, helping me punch out silver shapes, texture and shape them and solder them into earrings. Altogether, the day was so relaxed and inspiring, I can't wait to get started in my own studio. I would highly recommend a day on the Silver Jewllery Boat to anyone interested in silverworking."
