Julian Stanley reviewed: 1 Day Forged Geometry Flowers with Bex Simon

"This was a fantastic course and I heartily recommend it to anyone interested. Becs and Dave were excellent instructors and guided us as complete novices, through the skills and techniques needed to make our own geometric forged flower. What a satisfying and absorbing day! I am very proud of my piece and keen to try another course. Thanks for a really great day."

Sandra reviewed: 1 Day Forged Geometry Flowers with Bex Simon

"What a fantastic day my husband had. I booked the day a little apprehensive as he was not making a knife which I thought he wanted, but what he got far succeeded all my expectations. From the very minute we met Dave and Bex they were very welcoming showing us around their forge and accommodation. For anyone that wants to take part in forging I believe this is the experience you need. My husbands experience was one if the best he has ever had and he will be returning for the 3 day knife and axe event when the date is confirmed. Thanks Bex and Dave for making one happy man on his birthday. "

Old Pound Smithy responded:

"He did an amazing job. A true natural! We're so glad he enjoyed himself. "

Sarah Dixon reviewed: 1 Day Forged Geometry Flowers with Bex Simon

"I enjoyed my time with Bex enormously. I was lucky enough to be the only student on the day and the experience was collaborative, instructive, interesting and very satisfying. Bex is obviously talented and experienced in her craft and has a very creative mind. Her enthusiasm for creating in metal was infectious. The time flew by as I learned about heating and cooling steel in a fire breathed into life using hand pumped antique bellows. I learned how to use various tools to get different marks on the different steel templates and then individualize the shapes to create my own geometric flower. After lunch and having got used to the tools and processes, we moved on to the slightly harder work of forming, decorating and splitting the rod for the stem of the flower and voila, by the end of the day, a pretty respectable hand-made geometric flower that my sister is going to very happily put out in her garden here in Devon (if it ever stops raining!) Thanks very much to Bex for her wonderful instruction and generous sharing of ideas and also to David for providing the all essential tea and biscuits throughout the day....as well as being all round assistant as needed. I highly recommend this course!"

Old Pound Smithy responded:

"So please you enjoyed the course Sarah. I hope your sister enjoys the flower for years to come."

Geoff Cooke reviewed: 1 Day Forged Knife Making Course with Ben (Bean) Lam

"Very good experience and very informative. Bean knew his stuff and was very helpful. This is a good test for your metal working skills, using traditional methods. Only niggle was no refreshments. Luckily I was staying on site, so on the breaks I was able to get something to drink. "
