"Hands-on, informative, and enjoyable beginners class for quality candle making! I booked the course several months ago.  The classes are continually booked months in advance, which speaks volumes about how good they are. Paula is a wonderful host and teacher.  The venue is beautifully presented, and arranged safely in these COVID times, for a 10 am start on the day.  A comprehensive handbook is provided, and Paula talks through the process of candle making and legislation (if you wish to turn this into a small business). You then make two amazing smelling candles after the process is explained.   It is fun choosing the signature scent and understanding how wick and glass size, scent or colour, as well as the type of wax used, can all affect the outcome of the candle.  Paula is clearly an expert, as she runs her own business selling candles, soaps etc., and she imparted clearly and honestly that it does take time to test candles until you find your perfect one.  For the class, though, you are supplied with a tried and tested mix for the wax, so the end product is perfect.  I am hugely excited to start experimenting making my own candles in the coming months, and not spending a fortune on shop-bought ones as I previously was!! The day is topped off with a tasty afternoon tea (inclusive of the most divine scones), and she kindly caters for dietary requirements.  So not only did I come away with a recipe of how to make candles but also one for vegan scones - thank you, Paula!!"

"This was a great course. Paula is a really great and enthusiastic teacher. Lots of information about how to mix your scents, colours and how to use other additives and guidance about when to use them and why. good basic recipe given and good advice on what to by and where when making soap at home. She covered everything a beginner would need and in a really engaging way. And the sandwiches and home made scones were a real bonus! Can't recommend this course highly enough."

"Had a lovely few hours learning about making soap from Paula. Everything was explained very clearly with a set of notes you can take away, and it was great fun. Learned so much . A few people were going to take things further and sell their soaps (after getting the correct certification of course which was explained) and some were like myself, a complete beginner, just happy to know how to make some fab smelling soap for gifts and presents. Had a lovely cream tea to finish . Everyones soap looked good enough to eat and smelt gorgeous. Highly recommended for anyone ."

"What a fantastic course! Cannot recommend this enough as an introduction to soap making. The course covers all the legislation and information if you wish to turn this into a small business. Paula is engaging, enthusiastic, and highly knowledgable. The location is super accessible from London if coming by train (the course location is five minutes walk from the mainline train station in Bexley - Oyster Zone 6, and only 21 minutes on the fast train from London Bridge), or if driving there is plenty of available parking. It was fantastic to see the various creations other participants made, and a lovely afternoon tea topped off the day. Paula very kindly caters for dietary requirements - the vegan scones were wonderful!"

"I searched for weeks to find a soap making course and I luckily came across this one. This course is fantastic, it is incredibly informative and Paula talks you through all the steps within the process in a manner that is easily digestible. She has a wealth of knowledge that she openly shares with you, gives you plenty of hints and tips on how to be successful when making soap and setting yourself up as a business. I happily played around with choosing the scents for my soap - which are currently providing my flat with a lovely air freshener. Very excited to use them, and to get started on making some of my own creations, as I feel very inspired. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Oh! And sconces are seriously delicious too!"

"First, I have to say it was easy to book the course through the website and Paula, the tutor, was very quick at responding to any communications. During these challenging times, Paula assured us that the venue for the course would be COVID safe. Paula was welcoming and friendly. She was very keen to impart her years of knowledge to the group. The course was great for a beginner like myself as well as seasoned candle makers. I was surprised to learn that it wasn’t as simple as just putting some hot wax in a container with some scent and a wick and letting it set. Paula explained how each ingredient worked in order to produce the “perfect” candle. We learnt that “Testing” is the key. The whole group enjoyed a sandwich lunch as we waited for our candles to set. At the end of the afternoon I came home with two scented candles which I am very proud of and lots of information to start me on my candle making journey. I would recommend this course as Paula’s passion for candle making shines throughout. Jenny"

"I came along to Paula's candle making class with my mum and sister for a nice day out, and we had just that! We came with no plans to start candle making at home afterwards, but just to have an enjoyable day and come away with a couple of lovely homemade candles (which we did!), but we are now thinking we could definitely give candle making a go at home, and make some Christmas presents for family and friends! It was a lovely thing to do with a friend but I also would have been fine in my own as Paula was so welcoming and everyone there was friendly. The course was so well organised with a great balance of theory and practical. I have already bought some items to carry on this hobby at home. "This course was great for me as I was just setting up my business. It’s obvious that Paula knows the candle making industry in depth and answered every question with great thought. Paula was very helpful with which wax I should use for my business, explaining the different types and talking about the newest waxes on the market. This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as people already making candles. Not only did I learn a lot from the day, it was also great fun! I’m very fond of the two great smelling candles I made and bought home with me! Lunch was lovely too! I would recommend this course to everyone!"
