"Nick and his lovely wife Jane made me feel immediately comfortable and the day was well organised from start to finish. The course was completely bespoke and exceeded my expectations to be honest. Nick is simply an artist through and through and the passion and care he takes with his work is mirrored in the care of his students. We covered health and safety around the workshop & lathe, spindle turning techniques and then moved onto a bowl in the afternoon. The day was not rushed and we even ran over a little due to my poor technique but Nick ensured that I was never made to feel like a conveyor belt with another student through the door. I brought my tools along to the session and he covered all the sharpening techniques and reground my chisels - they now really perform and was good to learn using my tools alongside his ones to get a feel for the different tools available for turning. Technically the course was sound and covered all the basics in detail that I hadn't expected and I left feeling confident to try out what I learned on the day. Nick is a patient and able teacher and I will be booking another day shortly to extend on the topics covered and looking forward to another super day in the workshop (and very tasty lunch!) Excellent value for money and well worth it whatever your level in turning. Many thanks Nick and Jane, you are doing a super job! Damian"

"An excellent hands on course. Nick was completely adaptable in his manner and training skills, for me to be successful. His knowledge was not only wood turning but his enthusiasm, patience, teaching and listening skills . This course exceeded all my expectation. I was determined to have a good time and fun as was Nick. I learnt so much during the two days and was able to put into practice what I'd learnt, making sure wood turning was the craft for me . "A truly excellent course. I am disabled and Nick was completely adaptable in order for me to be successful. The best thing was he listened to my needs and was able to work round them move things as needed. I was determined to have a good time and so was Nick. "My 12 year old daughter was interested in woodturning and had been given a grant from her school to do a woodturning course. It's quite hard to find a course for children but Nick was happy to tutor her. He suggested splitting the day course designed for adults into 2 half days as he felt it would be quite intense and a lot to take in for a younger person all in one day. She had the most amazing experience. Nick is a fantastic tutor. He treated her as an adult without going over her head. He explained everything so carefully and gave her confidence to make spindles with 'bumps' and 'grooves' the first week. The second session she made a bowl, practically on her own. Its very hard for an expert to know when to stand back and when to step in, but Nick had perfect timing allowing her to develop her skill. She would definitely like to return for more teaching in the future. I would thoroughly recommend Nick as he tailors the course according to the person and delivers such skill through excellent teaching."

"I approached the course with an open mind ,not really believing i would be able to master the art of wood turning . Nick encouraged me from the outset his patience and excellent teaching skills built up my confidence .he never rushed me and answered all of my questions with enthusiasm and interest . I was given all of my work to bring home from the initial novice practice batons to my beautiful hand carved bowl . I would thoroughly recommend this course run by Nick to anyone interested in this craft and also those who are merely thinking about it,I thouroughly enjoyed my 2 days . "What a fantastic day with Nick (Alan!! Lol)... He and his wife are great and very friendly, Nick puts you at ease straight away, he has a very calm and relaxing demeanor.. The morning was spent showing the different tools, sharpening and how to use these tools for different shaping all hands on and not rushed at all. Then a light lunch and back to workshop to make a bowl.. Definitely wpuld recommend Nick ..Thank You!"

"We had an amazing day with Nick. I contacted him as we were coming to Norfolk for a holiday and asked if he could fit two of us in together. Nick was able to arrange this and we spent the morning getting used to the tools and then, after a lovely lunch provided by Jane, we produced our lovely bowls. We posted these on Facebook and have had a great response, saying how professional they look. Nick is a great teacher, very knowledgeable, helpful and patient. Great sense of humour and makes a great cup of tea!!"

Nick and his wife made me very welcome (and a lovely lunch too), Nick takes you through all the basic skills of wood turning at your own pace and builds your confidence as the day progresses. I came away with a bowl which is of a quality and finish I would not have believed possible. "Was bought a gift voucher for my birthday & am a complete beginner in anything to do with wood. Had a great day with Nick, & of course the lovely Jane. Learnt about the lathes, the workshop, safety in the shop, the tools, the basic skills, & finishing. Came away with a lovely bowl at the end. Really chuffed. Am busy now trying to plan to convert my shed into a workshop now!!! Can't recommend the day with Nick highly enough; am definitely going to go back to Nick for further teaching when I get up & running. Big thumbs up!"

"I just completed the one day course on wood turning and have graded it excellent. As a complete novice I was made to feel very comfortable with the instruction. The content was comprehensive and taught me everything I need to know to start this hobby. Nick is extremely professional in his approach and takes time to ensure that you understand everything he shows you. He taught me several techniques and at the culmination of the day I ended up with a very nice wooden bowl. I wholeheartedly recommend this course to anyone with an interest in starting to wood turn. The facilities are excellent and Nicks wife prepared a very nice light lunch."
