"What a wonderful day I had! Having never done any weaving, I left feeling delighted with what I had been able to achieve.....and I certainly hadn't expected to leave with as big a sample of my own creation with so many different patterns. Jeremy is a very patient teacher. His course is well thought out and he explains each step very clearly. I could work at my own pace and there was time to ask plenty of questions.....which I did! Jeremy is generous with his wide knowledge, experience and enthusiasm. I left not only with my sampler, but also with an understanding of how different patterns are created and very keen to weave some more. Thank you so much Jeremy!"

"Weaving Taster Day with Jeremy Uden. What a patient, knowledgeable and talented tutor. His enthusiasm shines through. After a brief intro, straight into the weaving. I ended the day with a weaved sampler towel and haven't stopped smiling since, real sense of achievement. Now to purchase a loom and supplies. Thank you Jeremy!"

Helen Wheeler reviewed: Warp your table loom

"I was given a loom and accessories, so signed up for Jeremy’s assistance. For two days he patiently taught me how to warp up and by the end I was weaving a beautiful herringbone design. Jeremy is not just a master weaver but an inspirational artist. His ‘eye’ for colour and texture takes you out of your comfort space and makes you want to achieve more. I can’t wait to book another day with Jeremy to make a sampler. He showed me examples of these and I would proudly frame these pieces of art. "

"l thoroughly enjoyed my day in this light and bright studio. l found the course was the right balance of instruction, illustrated with the tutor's own work, combined with working on a shaft loom to make my own sample weaving piece. This introduction to weaving matched with my wish , as a beginner, to explore weaving design and work on a shaft loom. l would recommend this course as the tuition is comprehensive at this level, paced well and delivered by an attentive supportive tutor . Thank you very much for your help, my interest in weaving continues to increase . "

"I have recently attended the day weaving course with Jeremy. It was so satisfying and peaceful. Everything is set up and you work in a beautiful space with lots of inspiration around, both in terms of colour and various woven textiles. Jeremy is an excellent teacher; organised, structured and methodical and doesn't throw you in at the deep end. He is also very good at letting you get on with your weaving and only intervening when you need some help. You get plenty of time to weave and come away with a sampler that you cannot quite believe you have produced. He will tell you as little or as much as you want/need to know. He clearly has lots of experience and can speak to your level but also inspire you to more; he also has lots of textile examples to show you different weaves. You also get a list of companies and teachers to help you deepen your interest and knowledge. A really lovely and satisfying day."

Jeremy Uden Designer/Handweaver responded:

"Thank you Carol. I'm really glad you were inspired by the day! Jem"

Jeremy has a really clear way of explaining, and showed us inspiring examples of his own weaving ( absolutely beautiful!). Jeremy structured the day really well,so we didn't feel rushed, or bad about weaving mistakes. We both thoroughly enjoyed the day and are pleased with the weaving samples we made. "I attended the day with my daughter and we both enjoyed the experience immensely. It was exactly what I had been hoping for - a mix of getting some understanding of how weaving works, hands-on experience with equipment that one could duplicate at home, something to take home at the end of the day and a lot of ideas of where it could lead to. Jeremy was very welcoming, patient and enthusiastic about sharing his work. I would sincerely recommend the course to anybody wanting to explore. I came away delighted and with a definite intention to find ways of learning more. "

Jeremy Uden Designer/Handweaver responded:

"Thanks Barbara - I'm really glad you both enjoyed the day. Jem"

"This was an excellent introduction to weaving. Jeremy as well as talented weaver is a great teacher, clear explanations and always starting where I was at, as the learner. It was an inspiring day and motivational and it has really encouraged me to do more. He was generous with his time and had range of ways to explain any complex designs. I would thoroughly recommend the day both as a lovely crafting experience and definitely as a way to learn more about weaving. Also taught in beautiful big light space with 1st class coffee."

"Had a fab day with Jeremy learning the basics of weaving. Starting from knowing nothing I quickly learned my warp from weft and how threading and lifting change a design. Another hobby to add to my other yarnie ones as soon as I have a loom of my own that is (please Santa.......?) Jeremy is a gentle and patient tutor, helping as needed but leaving you to get on with it too - somehow knowing when all is well and when things are going wrong !!. His range of samples to study is a delight and inspiration."

"Thanks Kaye. I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Jem"

Jan and Jeanne reviewed: An Introduction to Weaving with a Table Loom, Oxford

"Neither of us had any experience of weaving, so this taster course provided by Jeremy was just the right level for us both. The looms had been prepared with different warp patterns to help us discover variations in finished weave from both changes to the warp and weft. After an explanation on how the looms had been prepared and how to work the leavers we were straight into weaving, starting with plain weave and changing to more complex lift sequences during the course of the day. We both completed a sampler to take home to study and keep as a memory of an interesting day. We enjoyed talking about design and seeing many examples of Jeremy’s work and looking at his mood boards discovering the inspiration for his beautiful finished pieces. He is a great tutor and his light and airy studio a wonderful venue for a fun and really enjoyable day’s weaving experience."

Jen Pawsey reviewed: An Introduction to Weaving with a Table Loom, Oxford

"A friend and I had a lovely day with Jeremy weaving a sample blanket. Two four-shaft kind were ready warped with different warp setups across the width and we tried out different combinations of lift pattern. I was briefly worried the day would be too easy, as we had both done some weaving before. But no, it was just Jeremy ensuring our basics were solid, and we swiftly moved on to harder combinations and interesting weaves. In addition the garden and studio are beautiful, Jeremy provides coffee as well as gentle and perfectly directed help (and thousands of examples of finished weaving), it's topped off with a rural setting and morose dog. A lovely way to spend a day, whatever your weaving expertise."

"We had a fantastic day. Jeremy is a very knowledgable, patient teacher and kept us supplied with tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day. I had a small amount of previous experience, my sister none, but we both came away with a wonderful sampler of different weaving patterns and an understanding of how these can be achieved. The beautiful studio in its lovely garden was a pleasure to work in. A great day for a beginner or experienced weaver."

Melinda Kenneway reviewed: An Introduction to Weaving with a Table Loom, Oxford

"I really enjoyed this taste of weaving. The tutor’s approach meant that I came away with a really good understanding of the potential to create pattern from the warp and the weft, while at the same time having plenty of time to simply ‘weave’ and enjoy the process of using a 4 shaft loom. This course is perfect for beginners and also those with a little experience who really want to explore pattern and texture more deeply. The garden studio is spacious and works well for social distancing ... myself and a neighbour went on the course together and wore face masks and sat well apart, so the course was perfectly ‘COVID’ safe."

Ruth Burdett reviewed: An Introduction to Weaving with a Table Loom, Oxford

"As a taster day to give an insight into the craft of weaving, this was excellent. Jeremy has clearly put a lot of thought into his approach, and had 2 (socially distanced) looms - one for each of us - set up in a large room. The looms were warped up in such a way as to let us see the effect both of very simple patterns and of more-complex designs. He explained enough of the theory to give an insight into the possible levels of complexity without frying our brains, and also showed us lots of different samples of work to stimulate our interest and enthusiasm. By the end of the day, we had each woven a lovely sampler to take away - as a momento of the course and a reference for future work."
