I have been basket making for 21 years and have been working professionally and running courses for the last 13 years. I feel ardently about protecting the knowledge of our traditional rural crafts that are so much a part of our heritage.
My background is in arts and crafts. Having studied art, design and furniture making, worked in traditional timber framing and dabbled in stone masonry and stained glass, I then became hooked on basket making.
A great day course with excellent patient teaching!
My sister and I attended this as a birthday treat. We both had a wonderful day and went home with a basket to be proud of (with Jane's help). Jane is a warm and welcoming host and is an excellent teacher-wonderful knowledge, calm manner and very able to help and guide. It really was a relaxing and inspiring day and gave me a real sense of the heritage of basket making. We will go back!
I thoroughly enjoyed a 2 day course making a garden trug with Jane. She is an excellent, encouraging teacher and spreads her time evenly among the group, she is very informative about all things willow and very welcoming into her home.
And it is all washed down with lots of tea and delicious home bakes!
Spent two days making a basket and a bowl, totally enjoyed the course with Jane who is a marvellous and patient teacher, safe to say I now have total respect for basket making. Jane is very welcoming with home made delicious soup, and home made cakes. Thanks again Jane we had a lovely time and I got to spent some quality time with my new daughter in law Catherine xx
