Hope Woodwork was established in 2014 as a charity helping adults back to work through teaching from a basic to a more advanced level in woodworking and woodturning. We now offer these courses to the general public. The training courses have been developed by our supervisors who have extensive experience in woodworking, fine furniture making, joinery, carpentry and woodturning. Located in the Sunshine Coast of the UK, come and join our courses to learn woodworking and woodturning in a friendly atmosphere. No experience necessary.

"This has everything you want in a course. A great teacher, lots of practical projects to get stuck into, and that feeling at the end of the day that you just learned a ton of stuff.
You start simple and gradually get into more complicated joinery. By the end of the day you’re using skills you learned earlier to do things that previously were a mystery to you. Like dovetails. I can now make a dovetail.
Ray is a great teacher. As well as being extremely friendly and welcoming, he is a patient teacher and knows his subject inside out. He’ll also make you a cup of tea.
It’s a great place to learn techniques that have been used for hundreds of years. I can’t recommend the course enough. I came home eager to try out what I’d learned. "

"Ray Whitby is a brilliant teacher. Having no previous experience of joinery I picked up everything very quickly due to the great instruction. I can't wait to learn some more complex joints. "

"I had such a great day with Ray who taught me so much about making a range of joints. Ray is very patient, supportive and informative, I am very grateful for what he has taught me and will use these new skills in my hobby. I will definitely go back for more lessons and continue my wood making journey. "
