"If you like spending the day with likeminded creative people then this is the day for you. We were shown the Raku technique and were allowed to fire 4 pots. We started slowly but after we saw the first pots come out of the kiln we were all excited to try new and interesting things and were encouraged to do so my Janet and Suzanne. The tuition was excellent and we were lucky with the weather as it was outdoors but under a canopy. I would definitely recommend this course and will probably be doing it again myself now I have seen the results. "

Provided a selection of beautiful shaped pots to be painted, samples of coloured pots previously fired to give ideas, ample equipment, and safety throughout. Raku history & process was discussed, safety issues addressed, as students we were encouraged to participate at every step. Would recommend. "

"I approached this course with some trepidation as I have severe rheumatoid arthritis which badly affects the use of my hands. No need to worry! I was given unobtrusive help and support enabling me to enjoy the day to the full. A word of advice to anyone who likes to have total control of their artistic endeavours, just go with the flow, literally, and let the glazes and raku furnace do their own thing...the results will surprise and delight you. The harder I tried at the beginning the less pleasing were my results. Plenty of lovely food and drink available throughout the day."

We were all given the chance to get involved in all aspects of the firing, and were delighted with the outcome of the pots. We went home tired, smokey, but happy!"

"Had a lovely day (lucky with the weather which helped!) and produced 3 fabulous pieces. Janet, Suzanne and Allan are incredibly experienced and this comes across. They had thrown and fired a wonderful selection of vases, bowls and vessels which we got to pick from and everyone got a mix. Garden environment was pretty, quiet and serene. Only small suggestions for improvements: 1. samples for the glazes as there was a good deal of crossing fingers, 2. rushed to glaze but could have taken longer on 2nd and 3rd pieces while 1st was firing but didn't know, 3. bit more selection on lunch Regardless, worth the money, fab day."

"The Raku course I attended yesterday, in Susanne’s beautiful garden, was a revelation and an inspiration. Raku was not something I would have ever thought of doing, but as an inspired Birthday gift, it was a delightful day. The two ladies, Janet and Susanne, who run the course were welcoming and presented the art of Raku in a very accessible way for an inexperienced student. Everything was explained very clearly and I was involved in the whole process from choosing and applying the glazes, to putting the pots into the kiln, then removing them into sawdust filled dustbins. Lunch and drinks were provided and the whole day was quite magical, especially when i was able to return home with the beautifully glazed pots I had made. A thouroughly lovely day. Thank you to you all."
