"I had a CSM, but did not know how to use it. This course changed this. We started the course on time. Ann was clear in what she wanted us to do, patient in correcting mistakes and ensured that we had half a sock made by coffee break, one whole sock made by lunch time and a second sock by the close of the course. Lunch was provided and was excellent both in quality and quantity. Individual needs were catered for, and altogether it was a most enjoyable, although long day. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in how to make socks on a vintage sock machine."

"A really lovely day spent with Anne. She had thought of everything to make the day so enjoyable ,from the calm and patient way she helped teach us how to use the knitting machines to producing our own socks to take home. From the 1st email to the last cup of tea and homemade biscuits Anne held our hands all the way. I must mention the food that was provided too, all home cooked on an AGA by her friend Mattie , just delicious. "

"The whole day was absolutely fabulous. Anne was an excellent teacher and with all the experienced helpers on hand we were never left unattended. The lunch was utterly delicious as were the freshly baked shortbread biscuits and afternoon cake. I had always wanted to use a circular sock machine and I was not disappointed with my efforts and pleased that I had a beautiful pair of socks to take home for my husband to wear. We learnt how to rib, produce a shaped, short row, heel and toe and to invisibly, kitchener stitch up the toe. An excellent day."

"This course more than lived up to my expectations. Anne and her team are patient and excellent teachers who talk you through the art of producing a pair of fabulous socks step by step on vintage machines. Because the group is small there is never any danger of floundering without a guiding hand from Anne or one of her team. I dropped stitches and made other mistakes and learnt why these had happened as well as how to fix them. I ended the day with a fabulous pair of socks with ribbing, heels and toes and because the teaching is so good, can remember how I made them. A delicious homemade lunch is provided along with biscuits and cake, again homemade, served on gorgeous china crockery. Definitely a five star experience and one I’d heartily recommend."

The machine I used was running beautifully. Great choice of lovely wool and the result is a perfect pair of socks, thanks to Anne’s instructions and ability to pick up my dropped stitches. With no skill in craftwork I worried a little about the day - but my fears were unfounded- Anne and her team were wonderful, supportive and encouraging. "I learnt so much about sock-making, ribbing, the heel, the toes, invisible seaming and also about the machine itself. Anne’s teaching expertise made all the difference to how much I could take in over a day. I dropped stitches and panicked slightly but Anne ensured me that these mistakes are a necessary part of the learning process. The machine worked so smoothly that it was obvious it was well-maintained and loved. The yarn we used was great quality too! Anne couldn’t have done any more to make it more enjoyable with a lovely healthy lunch including home-made biscuits and cake and thoughtful touches. We had breaks throughout the day for tea/coffee and biscuits or cake . It really felt like a much-needed treat! I returned home feeling so glad that I had taken the course. I love my gorgeous purple and green socks that remind me of heather. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Anne’s Sock School to anyone interested in learning how to use a circular sock machine!"

"What a superb day! The tutor and her band of local helpers were so welcoming and the food was wonderful- home cooked biscuits, tea bread and quiches amidst the salad and baguette and fresh fruit. Such a treat! We had 4 break and tea and coffee out of China cups! This was by far the best out of the many courses I have attended. Besides these peripherals, the sock knitting machines were exquisite and working well. We had to concentrate hard under Anne's careful and expert tuition and her stalwart helper. We all produced fine socks and I love my purple and green ones. Of course, we all made some mistakes. How do you learn otherwise? But Anne and Sarah showed us how to overcome then. Would love to do it again next week!"

"Anne's obvious love of her circular sock knitting machines is infectious. She has taught for many years and this showed in her great patience and calm manner. From course admin, to fresh coffee, homemade biscuits and a delicious lunch as well as retrieving our dropped stitches, Anne took it in her stride. In addition to the powerpoint slides, we were given detailed notes with pictures to illustrate the position of needles and wool for the tricky parts. We learnt how to rib, produce a heel and toe and to invisibly sew up our socks. The result was no ordinary pair of tubular socks but a pair of lovely warm, matching, fitted socks in my colour choice and shoe size."

"This is an absolutely fabulous experience! The sock just grows before your very eyes! Concentration is required, but the reward is so worth it. The whole day is great fun, in lovely surroundings with like minded people. Anne is an excellent, patient teacher who brings the craft to life with her knowledge and enthusiasm. Being a non-knitter, I needed this, and I ended up with a beautiful pair of socks, which I could actually wear without alarming folk! The lunch is delicious, which is an added bonus, and we even had home made biscuits which was a lovely touch. Highly recommended."
