Lynne reviewed: Weave an alpaca scarf in a day

"Such a lovely day, yesterday! Caroline [a patient, knowledgeable tutor], Becky [ditto], Ian and the alpacas were very welcoming and friendly [none of them spat!]. Good coffee, biscuits and generous, tasty lunch all enjoyed in a comfortable, light, warm workshop area. I loved meeting all the alpacas and, especially, the 'introduction' to the individual [I found myself saying, 'Thank you'] animals that had provided the wool for each student's scarf. I would love to return for another class; don't need any more scarves but the day was just so great! Thank you all so much."

Clivewood Alpacas responded:

"Thank you Lynne, you are always welcome "

Mairead (Maggie) Hawker reviewed: Weave an alpaca scarf in a day

"After a long period of being locked away thanks to Covid this was my first venture out to a class and I couldn’t have chosen a better class! To me it felt less like a class and more like a visit to friends. It was one of the best craft courses I’ve ever been on, and I do courses a lot! The course takes place in a beautiful purpose-built workroom in beautiful Shropshire countryside and is easy to find with Satnave/Waze. Immediately you’re made to feel very much at home by the lovely Caroline and Becci and introduced to your loom and equipment. You’re shown how to wind wool onto your shuttle, use your heddle and everything else that comes with weaving your first piece. Teaching is attentive but not intrusive, and both have the patience of Job when inevitably mistakes are made! I’d tinkered with weaving and have my own loom, but still learned so much that I’ve come away with a new confidence and enthusiasm for weaving. At lunchtime you visit the Mill, where wool is processed, and meet the Alpacas, who are the most gorgeous, happy creatures who are obviously very loved and well looked after. There really isn’t anything to fault with this class and I would heartily recommend to new, curious or even experienced weavers. Thank you Caroline and Becci for making the first steps of my lifelong dream so easy to take! "

Clivewood Alpacas responded:

"Thank you Maggie, it was a pleasure to teach you. Looking forward to seeing your future projects. "

Martina reviewed: Weave an alpaca scarf in a day

"I spend a fantastic day at Clivewood Farm and left at the end of the day with a beautiful handwoven scarf. Caroline’s tuition was excellent and I learnt a lot. Meeting the alpacas who provided the actual wool for my scarf was a memorable moment and I enjoyed an interesting tour through the mill. Thank you for a wonderful day in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. "

Jenny G reviewed: Weave an alpaca scarf in a day

"It was a wonderful day of weaving and yarn and alpacas and quiche. I go on many craft courses and this is by far the best I have been on for years. I look forward to going back in a few months and being more adventurous in my choice of pattern. There is something special using the product of the animals you are watching through the window. Becky was a calming, knowledgeable tutor."

"I attended this course a short while ago and loved every minute of it. Caroline and the team are so friendly, the location is beautiful and the Alpaca's are worth a drive all on their own. I had zero experience of weaving and chose a slightly harder pattern and thanks to Caroline I made it no problem at all (well, lots of mistakes, but lots of help given). The whole experience from the tour of the wool processing equipment, meeting the alpacas, weaving the scarf to the lunch and refreshments is highly recommended."

Clivewood Alpacas responded:

"Lovely having you here and you made a beautiful scarf Caroline"
