Maker's bio

George has been turning for over 15 years and become a full time turner in 2017 on retiring from the army. He founded Butterwood in 2019 to put his woodturning on a business footing and was accepted onto the Register of Professional Turners the same year, joining the RPT committee two years later. He exhibits in local galleries and art markets in the Salisbury area and is passionate about the craft and very keen to promote it and pass on his skills.

"A superb experience, I highly recommend taking this course! George was great - friendly, informative, and patient with my many mistakes. It was a full day in his workshop with a wide range of tools and equipment to try. Very hands on, lots of practical work, and I was amazed at what I was able to make in just one day and take it home with me. A fascinating glimpse into the world of turning!
