"I absolutely loved my 2 days at Karen’s workshop! I learned so much and am delighted with the progress I made on my chair. Karen is warm and welcoming and very supportive. She shares her expertise and skills step by step, helping each person to work on their own chair to their own liking. I really liked it that I learned about processes not needed for my chair, from watching what the other people were doing. An added bonus is the delicious and convivial lunch we shared. I can’t recommend this course highly enough and I will definitely return. Thank you Karen!"

"What a brilliant two days! I was given this course as a present, and as such accepted the generous gift at face value and did little research into the course. I emailed Karen with my project, asking for her thoughts and from then on the experience was fantastic. As a wood and metal worker I have many years experience in workshops but had never considered upholstery, a now obvious extension to my practice. Karen led us all through our individual projects whilst keeping a great group dynamic in the room, each stage was patiently covered (sic) and then reviewed when complete. At no time did one feel lost, or helpless. I completed my project with a couple of hours to spare and without a moment to consider, was started on another one to make a cushion to complement my upholstered chair. I made new friends within the group, the communal lunches were delicious and full of conversation. I am now looking at options for my next project, I might test Karen a little harder next time, she certainly has the skills and experience."

"I feel so fortunate that this is the upholstery course that I signed up for (I have been attending for 18 months now). I’d researched others, but was put off by having to stick to a rigid syllabus. Karen’s class, on the other hand, allows you to bring any piece - however difficult or unusual - and work on it with guidance & the extreme expertise that Karen herself offers. Not only is the teaching tailored to students (of any ability), but the group is small (no more than 4) so that Karen can give everyone plenty of individual attention. Karen has tremendous warmth & patience, supporting students in gaining skills, confidence & encouraging their creativity (I love seeing other attendees develope their ideas & projects - I learn from that too). This class is a real pleasure to attend & I can’t rate it highly enough!"

"I can’t rate this course enough. Karen is quite possibly the most patient, kind and very talented teacher you could ask for if you want to learn the craft of upholstery. From covering a small stool to making your own from scratch. The classes are small which means you get lots of attention should you need it and learn in a very friendly relaxed environment. I probably shoudn’t mention Karen’s delicious home made flapjacks and cappuccinos to die for which makes the course exceptional value for money!"

"I love doing upholstery courses with Karen. She is so enthusiastic about her craft and a brilliant empathetic teacher whose keenness passion and interest in all matters upholstery is catching. I have totally got the bug. Karen encourages me in whatever project i am working on. Completely reupholstering a huge chaise longue in a 2 day course is a wonderful testament to Karen's teaching and can do approach. And the coffee is fantastic as well."

"Absolutely loved this course. Upholstery has always been something that I wanted to train in and Karen is most definitely the person that I would go to if you want to learn. You have everything you need in the workshop and Karen was so welcoming. The atmosphere was very relaxed and I loved the home cooked lunch, was not excepting that! "A challenging first project I was told! - with Karen's 'can do' attitude and support, I succeeded in finishing a complex chair in a two day workshop followed by a couple of one off sessions. I loved the small group size and that we were all working on different projects. Karen's ability to 'hold' us all at our different stages with different needs was extraordinary and I'm looking forward to returning. Great coffee too!"

"My husband and I have just completed a thoroughly enjoyable intensive upholstery weekend with Karen. We couldn't be more delighted with the excellent quality of tuition, how much we learnt and the projects we have completed. As well as being a fantastic tutor, Karen was a great host and ensured we were very well catered for. Lunch, coffee and snacks were delicious as well. We have now caught the upholstery bug and would definitely recommend Karen's workshops."

"Fantastic course! A great way to spend a weekend, Karen was energetic and very knowledgeable, an excellent teacher. The atmosphere in the workshop was lovely and it was great working alongside other people creating something. As Karen keeps the classes small she's able to devote a lot of time to you. Even though I didn't finish my chair I'm amazed at how much I did get done and Karen was very supportive in helping me finish it after the weekend. I'm hooked on upholstery now and if I had the time and funds I''d probably be back every week! The food was great too!"

"Really enjoyed my time on this course. Never had any upholstery experience before but it didn't matter, truely a course for beginners upwards. Karen is really knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Her and her "support team" (husband and kids) were uber accommodating and welcoming. Really pleased with what I have done. Didn't get the chair finished in the 2 days, but Karen has continued to give me support via the evening classes and email. An added bonus to an already amazing weekend was the fabulous home made food!!! Would definitely recommend!"

"I had never done any upholstery before but decided to do this two day course to cover an old chair. Karen was so lovely. She has great teaching skills explaining in detail every step of the way. Although not finished Karen is happy to always give advise via email or phone. I would definitely recommend this course to anybody. Karen and her family provide food and drink continually during the day. The homemade lunch is particularly delicious"

"I have just spent the weekend on this upholstery course and can honestly say it was a fabulous experience. Karen is an excellent teacher full of knowledge and enthusiasm. From the moment we arrived Karen and her famiily made us feel welcome and relaxed. There were 3 of us on the course and although we all brought different projects, she managed our time well so that very moment was productive. I came away feeling very proud of what I had achieved and, inspired to take on a second project. I would highly recommend Karen and will definitely be back to learn more........................ "A fantastic flexible and friendly course which I can not recommend enough. I called Karen out of the blue for a chat about my project and the type of fabric I should buy, she was so friendly and helpful I enrolled straight onto the course. It's been fantastic to take along my own project, karen's very knowledgeable and tailored the sessions to what I wanted to achieve, even gave me little tasks to do before the next session, which was just what I wanted. 4/5 sessions down and I'm coming to the end of my project, I'm really going to miss it and can't wait to find the next project to move onto."

"I loved this weekend! Karen is a natural teacher and the atmosphere is relaxed and homely. Even so the course is intensive with lots of techniques to learn. There is a lot of 1:1 teaching and excellent support throughout all stages plus detailed handouts and email support. I purchased the footstool kit which I highly recommend; I was able to learn a series of essential upholstery skills in one weekend that I can use on projects in the future, making the weekend excellent value for money. Plus, I have a beautiful and unique piece of furniture for my home! Karen's workshop is well equipped with plenty of space and all the materials you are likely to use. Lunch and refreshments are included and Karen's daughter even baked us a cake! I'm looking forward to visiting again and I am already planning my next project."

"I get quite a few friends laughing when I say I drive down from London on a weekly basis and have been doing so for the past three weeks to see Karen. As a self employed person I cannot take several days off to hunker down in another city so the morning short courses are totally worth it and a nice break from my routine. What is even better is it is traditional upholstery. Not a staple in sight which is exactly what I wanted. Karen is very passionate about what she does and the popularity of her courses proves it. It is a flexible way of learning a new skill and the wealth of knowledge I am currently getting from Karen is amazing."
