Would you like to make your Christmas wrapping more sustainable this year, whilst still keeping it attractive and contemporary? Join us for a fun evening of paper craft, learning how to wrap various different shaped parcels – some easy, some tricky! – using simple brown paper, and then decorating them with bows made out of scrap paper and magazines. During the class you’ll be shown how to wrap a standard square box, a bottle and also learn how to make a simple gift bag for that challenging odd shaped present. You’ll also be shown how to make paper bows, which can be used on your presents or equally look fabulous as decorations hanging on your tree. There’ll be plenty of time to practise each technique – and do feel free to bring along any gifts that need wrapping, so you can get ahead with your Christmas preparations! We’ll be using brown paper that can easily be recycled and also making coloured paper bows out of scrap paper from magazines, newspaper supplements and TV guides. You’ll be able to pick pages with your favourite colour schemes for the bows and also be more specific with colours when making seasonal snowflakes and holly. The class will be led by creative and talented Sonia Lee, an RSN trained professional hand embroidery teacher, who’s also a keen recycler and loves all things to do with repairing, reusing, and remaking.
