I am delighted to have teamed up with Julia Davey again at her beautiful premises in Bath to offer a 6 hour 'Introduction to Frame Loom Weaving' workshop, 10am-4pm.
What to expect:
The workshop will teach you the basic principles and terminology of weaving and you will create a small woven piece using a frame loom.
Spaces are limited to ensure you receive as much guidance as you need.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those that have a little experience and would like a refresher.
You will have the opportunity to buy your loom for £20 at the the end of the workshop.
I like to work with as many sustainable materials as possible and, where possible, I try to source end of line and second hand materials that would otherwise go to waste.
There will be a wide selection of materials available to you ranging from banana, hemp, linen, paper, cotton and recycled yarn to rose, mint, bamboo and flax fibres.
You will be provided with all the materials you will need for the workshop however if you have any material at home that you would like to experiment with then please feel free to bring them along.
About your tutor:
Ellie Fisher is a textile designer with a foundation in textiles from Winchester School of Art and a BA and MA from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
With over 15 years of weaving experience she is passionate about sharing her love of textiles.
Parking & Arrival
Please arrive a few minutes early to ensure you have time to park and to grab a cuppa before the workshop begins.
I look forward to meeting you soon but if you have any questions beforehand, please feel free to contact me.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
The course price includes 6 hours of guided tuition, use of the looms and all materials including yarns and a selection of fibres including organic cotton, bamboo, flax and hemp.
You will be given your own clear workshop handouts to take away with you.
Tea, coffee, herbal tea and biscuits will be provided but please do bring your lunch.

I attended the same course as Catherine at Fisherton Mill and totally echo her review. The group is small enough for individual attention from Ellie, but large enough to get a wide variety of weaving. My head is now so full of ideas I don’t know where to start! Fabulous day - will definitely book again with Ellie.
Response from Elka:Hi Rachel, sorry for the venue mix up! Thank you so much for the lovely review. Really glad you enjoyed the workshop and do just shout if you need any pointers. Best wishes and happy weaving! Ellie.
(Course attended was at Fisherton Mill, Salisbury)
Very enjoyable day. Ellie is a lovely teacher, very friendly and knowledgeable, and obviously very talented. The class was run in a relaxed way, with plenty of resources, and a small enough number to receive individual attention. I would definitely book again with Ellie.
Response from Elka:Oh I'm sorry I've sent it out as the wrong venue! Thank you so much for the lovely review Catherine, I'm very glad you enjoyed the workshop. Best wishes, Ellie
