Sew Your Own Knickers in the Lake District
Description
This is a great taster workshop learning the art of sewing your own knickers, from handling jersey fabric to working with lingerie elastics and lace trims. You will have the option of sewing different styles of knickers, from low, mid or high leg, and different waist options. It’s a great way to use up scrap fabric but be warned, after this workshop, you will become addicted to sewing knickers! This workshop will cover: Measuring and picking out your correct size Working with and sewing with jersey fabrics Sewing with lingerie elastics/stretch lace trims Sewing enclosed gussets How to hack your pattern to get even more variations The size range for the knickers is approximately UK 6 through to UK 34 (waist 24in to 53in) You do need to have some sewing machine experience for this course, but not necessarily dressmaking experience.
What's included in the price?
A paper pattern and instruction booklets are provided, including an extra booklet with other key information and tips for sewing your knickers. The pattern used for this workshop is the Iris Knickers by Tilly & the Buttons. What you need to bring: 60cm (140cm wide) main fabric 25cm x 25cm crotch lining fabric Narrow stretch lace 3.30m x 20/40mm wide AND/OR fold over elastic (FOE) 3.30m x 15/20mm. You can mix and match or use both. All purpose polyester thread to match your fabric, lace and/or FOE Sewing machine with adjustable zigzag stitch, stretch needle and basic tools. There will be a materials charge of £20 payable direct to the tutor to include the cost of the pattern. Homemade refreshments will be available throughout the day and a two course lunch will be provided.

We have parking near the Barn and in our farmyard. If you need to be near to the Barn, please let us know in advance and we can reserve you a place.
