Seaside mixed media glass and shell mosaics

Description

Have you ever come back from the seaside with a wondrous collection of shells and seaglass and not known what to do with it all? Then this is the workshop for you. Come and spend a day making a glorious seascape picture with all your collected treasures. We will combine them with fabulous stained glass to make a one of a kind creation. You will learn how to cut stained glass, and how to combine it in mosaic to make the best of the beautiful patterns on the glass. We will look at creative ways to stack the glass to add colour, texture and interest. We will discuss adhesives, and the pros and cons of using various adhesives for different purposes. You will work within a small wooden frame so that you will have a completed picture to take home at the end of the day. There is no grouting involved. There will be a large collection of shells, small driftwood pieces and seaglass available, but please do bring your own treasures so as to make your mosaic more personal. Group size: 4 maximum

What's included in the price?

All materials are included. You will also be provided with a small wooden frame to work in. All tools needed to produce your mosaic will be provided for use on the day. Please bring your own shells, sea glass and embellishments if you want.

Message the tutor

Yvette Green is a stained glass mosaic artist based in Gloucestershire. Originally from South Africa, Yvette trained in Botany and Education before working in mosaics for the last 13 years. Yvette mosaicked one of the large hares for the Cirencester March Hare Festival, 2014 and also for the Cotswold Hare Trail in 2017. She is a member of the Cotswold Craftsmen and the British Association of Modern Mosaics. She is excited about teaching her techniques and spreading some mosaic love.
